I'm sorry, but the last part killed me. Brushes that have the sizing still on should never be squeezed before wetting them because that damages the hairs. Also, NEVER leave brushes with the hair pressing the bottom of a jar (with or without water), that damages the hair too and if it's a glass full of water, the glue that binds the hairs starts to disolve and the ferrule will corrode. Just put the brush under the faucet or keep swirling it in a water container to eliminate the sizing.

After purchasing many brushes as a beginner I’ve found that the Princeton Heritage 4050 Line is perrrrrrfect for me. I also love the Princeton Select Line. I love Synthetic Brushes, not too soft!

It's true, don't get a natural hair brush if you're a beginner. Get the creative mark mimik brushes, they are the best synthetics in my opinion.

So so helpful and soothing at the same time! It was borderline ASMR and helped me feel motivated yet relaxed to find watercolor brushes, versus feeling more overwhelmed or anxious to find them. Thank you!!

I've been debating on getting the Escoda Versatil watercolor brushes, and the Princeton brush and the others in this video look good! I've been meaning to upgrade from the tiny brushes I have for a while now.

😄👍 Great advice for general beginners! I'm dying to know where you got your least favorite, large synthetic "not thirsty enough" brush. It'd be perfect for dry brush techniques! You could have that sun-dappled look over water in no time with how that brush paints, and perfect spotted shadows underneath leaf bare trees. Lol ☺️

I have the Zen brush as well and dislike it for not being able to hold much water as well. I mainly use it for painting short strokes. Thank you for this advice! Any more tips?

MacyReader I know what you mean. But sadly, from what I’ve found, they kill all of the animals. And I’ve never heard otherwise. I was watching a German video here on KZbin about a factory that hand makes all their brushes. They even showed the prepped skin with the fur still on it. : / It was for DiVinci brushes.

can i ask you what the differen of Chinese calligraphy brush and watercolor brush ? and what kind of brush for beginner ( Chinese brush or watercolor brush) thank you so much. 🖌💕💕💕
@SummerSunHomeArt5 жыл бұрын
Hi I'd recommend watercolor brushes for a beginner~ The major difference is the type of hair used and the shape. Both are good but I think watercolor brushes are easier to use. 💕
