Thanks for the review - I'm waiting for a bunch of quills to arrive from Jacksons - a Da Vinci Casaneo, a Raven and a Tintoretto. I love my Raphael Softaqua -- it's the best. My Princeton Neptune and AquaElite quills were also well worth the price.

I like the Soft Aqua very much too. I hope you enjoy the new brushes when they arrive. I've had my eye on a Tintoretto but not gone for it just yet. Thank you for watching.

yes! i like that you mentioned they all serve the same purpose. out of these, i only have the Raphael 803 in size 2 and the Raven 3/0. i don’t really work on large pieces anymore so the Raphael hasn’t seen much use as of late. The raven is such a good workhorse but I understand why it’s placed last amongst these other superior brands. makes sense. I’m still deciding which escoda travel brush to get... the ultimo or versatil. This video is making me lean towards ultimo.
@JayNathanWatercolor3 жыл бұрын
I would go for the versatil. I think the synthetic sable would be better in almost every way unless you particularly like synthetic squirrel? I have the size 10 Escoda Perla travel brush that I use for details. I love it.

@@JayNathanWatercolor hmm... i might need to do another year's worth of pondering haha~

Haha. I find the ultimo round brushes don't have a very good tip so are not so good for details but they hold a lot of water so are great as wash brushes. I kind of want the size 16 ultimo travel brush for a wash brush.

@@JayNathanWatercolor yeah i get what you mean, and it sounds like you know what you want. i’m not too fussed about the point. for me it’s the snap back/spring that i’m looking for. and most squirrel hair brushes don’t have that snap back. people say try sable and i do have a rembrandt sable but it’s still not what i’m after. i’ve been undecided for months now whether to get the escoda ultimo or try the tintorretto synthetic squirrel hair travel brush. i just want a lot of water and spring! lol

Ah ok. I've never tried the Tintoretto but they look very nice. Get both! 🤣

Hi bud. I'm about to pick between Raphael 803 and isabey 6234i. Which would you recommend?
@JayNathanWatercolor3 жыл бұрын
That's a tough question. Both are very good brushes so you can't really go wrong with either. It depends what you like. I personally prefer the Raphael just because it feels more like a tool to be used. The New Isabey design is pretty but a bit too flashy for me 🤣

@@JayNathanWatercolor so I wanted size 2 initially (as a round size 12 alternate), I already have a Neptune Quill #6. My choices were 803 size 3 here for 30$ or isabey size 2 from Jackson's for 32 pounds. I decided to settle for the size 3, hoping it works as a round size 12/14 alternative workhorse.

look at Isabey 6228i, out of this world quality
@jalsiddharth3 жыл бұрын
@@vincentiumagearu9834 Ended up with a size 3 803. Isabey size 2 off Jackson was considerably more expensive.
@vincentiumagearu98343 жыл бұрын
@@jalsiddharth, yeah they're quite expensive, speaking of bankrupcy, atm i expect a delivery of size 4 and 6 of 6228i from Isa, the pure Kolinsky range

I mean really...yt has eyes everywhere 👀 I physically went to a store today and saw the two brushes from this video, and as I got home this was my first video suggestion. The two are Raphael and Isabey - didn`t google them previously & I didn`t get any, but was considering one, and since I would need a smaller size, can I ask you how would you compare the hair itself, water capacity, longevity and point? I know both are natural hair but still cheaper then my third option - casaneo. Thanks in advance!))
@JayNathanWatercolor3 жыл бұрын
Haha that's funny. They're tracking you everywhere 🤣 I would say the Isabey and Raphael squirrel hair is the same in terms of water capacity. I can't really tell you about longevity as they don't get used often. They've just sat in a brush case for a year and a half 😂 I much prefer the Raphael though. It has a better point and, while the Isabey looks nice, the Raphael feels more like a tool to be used.

@@JayNathanWatercolor Lol I hope the same don`t happen with mine, It`s not likely that I need another brush, but the heart wants what the heart wants)) Raphael is also cheaper then Isabey here so.. thank you )))
