I've had the M.E Makalu jacket for 6 months and would definitely recommend it. Bombproof, excellent as a waterproof but also breathable. Like most clothing items, it's just down to personal fit. 👍

I enjoyed the video. You mention mountain skills a few times. How about the Rab Latok Alpine/Extreme or Arc’teryx AR. I have a Rab downpour already and want a gore Tex jacket to use in winter and for mountain skills (a course coming up).Then again I feel I have a decent layering system, so all these jackets would work. But in the end I need to buy once 🙂.

Hi, thank you for your comment! While we don’t stock Arc'teryx, the Rab Latok is a fantastic option. I personally use the Latok Mountain, which served me brilliantly during a three-day winter skills course with Rab last year. If you’re after a versatile jacket that’s suitable for more than just winter skills, I’d recommend considering the Mountain or Alpine variants. The Extreme is excellent but very purpose-driven, so it’s less suited to general use. The Lhotse, which we mentioned in the video, would also be an outstanding choice. Had the Makalu unfortunately leaked like a sieve now have a Kangri just come back from new year in the lakes where it was very well tested and up to now held up.

Interesting! That sounds like an unfortunate factory error, as the Makalu has been a standout jacket in the industry for quite some time. The Rab Kangri is an excellent choice, though-it’s great to hear you found a solution that works for you!
