With the upcoming GDPR, I'm still not clear on whether using GA will require some kind of cookie notice and/or privacy policy to be compliant. I'm aware you can't access users IP data directly in GA but Google itself will have used that data to give Geolocation stats, so presumably that IP data is being stored by Google somewhere?.

I just made a switch from to Analytify after seeing this video. The plugin is great plus, apparently my previous plugin was slowing down my site cos now my scores on Gtmetrix are way better the what they were before i made the switch. Great plugin indeed.

Thanks, Adam. Just installed it. I previously installed the code on my beaver builder child theme but it was deleted after an update. I've tried other google analytics plugins before but they are mainly a placeholder and refer you back to Google's dashboard which can be complicated.

Your welcome. There is a setting in this plugin to have GA not track ip addresses. With that enabled its fully GDPR compliant.

To me, the best part of Google Analytics plugins is being able to automatically filter out specified user roles. This way, I can just tell my clients to bookmark their dashboard and login before they use their site. It's much easier than teaching them how to filter out all their commonly used IP addresses inside Google Analytics.

Appreciate the overview of the connection between Google Analytics and Wordpress, but demonstrating a plugin on a site with no analytics was pretty worthless. "Well, since there's no data, there's nothing to see here, but, really, this dashboard is great when there's data." Usually Adam thinks things like this through before making a video. Where your social icons list beneath your business info on the search results. I know its a script, but how do you modify it and can you stick that script in the themes settings under Analytics and Scripts in the header field? What if I already have the Google Analytics script in that field? There are not really any good videos on the subject that I could find...

GTM is a Tag Container. GA is Google Analytics JS Code. GTM can contain the GA and other Tags as well.
