BEST WAY TO APPLY WHEEL & TIRE CLEANER

The fastest, easiest and BEST way to apply wheel and tire cleaner. Applying a wheel cleaner should be easy and fast. I like thick foam as it allows longer working times while detailing a car. This longer dwell time also makes the wheel cleaner more effective. Here I cover the 3 most popular methods to apply wheel cleaner to your wheels while auto detailing. If you have super dirty brake dust covered wheels and want 100% product dilution I would use the pump sprayer method. If you don't mind a slight dilution the foam cannon is by far the best way to apply the wheel and tire cleaner. Keep in mind that the dilution ratio should match the soil level. Even though I have a foam cannon that I use for the car's exterior, I use a Marolex or IK sprayer for wheels and tires. I would never recommend a spray bottle to anyone--takes too much time and doesn't spray an even coating onto the wheels and tires. Nice to see you back Jeremy.

I've been using Brake Buster in an IK Foam Pro2 with foam cannon like results. I probably use more than I should but I also spray about 25% from a Tolco sprayer onto the tire and some on the tire brush after foaming to boost the cleaning. One gallon of BB has lasted two years and I finally bought another gallon on a Black Friday sale. For that farm truck you mentioned, I'd probably use something with more strength like Wise Guy from Shine Supply or P&S Undressed which I also picked up recently to test out.

You’re spot on with this comparison! I will add the foam canon method works well with something like the Kranzle pressure washer but doesn’t work as well with cheaper pressure washers in my experience where there is a short (1-2 second) lag before foam starts as you’ll get a runny solution first before the pressure washer can foam properly and you end up wasting product.

For me I find that the foam covers the visual breakdown of the dirt, grime and grease. It's something that you're not aware of until you go and do a rinse. My then it too late. So, what you missed, you're adding more product. Like you said it all adds up.

The foam cannon is nice since it’s fast. And you know for certain you are not over applying product. Worse case you can go back over it and use very little product a second time. Or better yet keep maintaining the wheels where the cannon works first time.

Great stuff it’s my preferred method the pf22 filled with brake buster. I find with more trashed/contaminated wheels BB isn’t the best option anyways so in those cases I just use a 16oz bottle of a heavier hitter (I’m liking Koch MWC)

I use 100% wheel cleaner and the foam cannon dilutes it. This is best for wheels that are not extremely dirty. If they are use a stronger dilution in a spray bottle.

If you use the foam cannon it will be diluted already. I would start at 100% and back it down as needed keeping enough cleaning power to meet the task. Give that a try and see what you think.

Jeremy, I have a MJJC foam cannon I’ve been using for about three months , I clean it up after every use and I’m very careful with the cannon. Yesterday I went to use it and it would not work. My karcher would just rev , stop, rev again. I changed to a different foam cannon and the cannon worked fine. Any recommendations on how I can fix it? Thank you

The foaming mesh is probably clogged, I would first check to make sure that the orifice isn’t clogged up with some junk, and then proceed to open the foam cannon and clean/replace the foaming mesh. There are plenty of videos on KZbin on how to get inside the foam cannon!

Yes. The only way to get it straight is with a spray bottle. Most wheel cleanings don’t need it @100%.

Thanks for the great tips! I have a Big Boi Washr Flo so I'm interested in using the foam cannon, however how much product would you typically fill to clean four wheels assuming it's at 100% and not diluted in the actual foam cannon before you introduce water from the pressure washer? I do find that using the spray bottles and even pump sprayers go through a fair amount of product and as a professional we all want to cut costs and save time. Thanks again Jeremy.

I my test in the vid. I used less then 1 oz for the wheel. I would say 3 oz for all four. I always go 100% in the cannon. Works great on most cases. If you have really touch clean up use your spray bottle.

If you do not want to dilute the product use a spray gun with an air compressor. This will waste more product thou but will be concentrate.
