While automatic backups are a good way to ensure you have a copy of your most recent configuration, the danger is that, if you don't detect the problem after the hack but before the next automatic backup, your most recent backup copy may include the hack. Then you're no better off than having no backup. My philosophy is to manually backup each time you make a change that you're happy with. Make it part of your sign off procedure.

That’s true. You can also consider active protection measures that can detect malicious files like WordFence or Solid Security.

Could you do a review on Migrate guru. It is a free plugin that can migrate a site with one click to many different hosts. You just need to install WordPress on the new host, enter the ftp details to the plugin details on your old site (if your host is one of the 20 hosts listed, you can enter your account details too). Then just sit back and relax. The best part is unlimited migration sizes, migration on their servers (fast migration with little to no downtime), and just the fact that this plugin is created by the popular blog vault premium backup plugin. The only downside is that you can only migrate 5 sites per month, but you can migrate those sites unlimited amount of times.

I have siteground and they claim to do backups but should I do that on my own as well? Also do you know anything about the new elementor update it says it hasn’t been tested so if I wait to update that plugin will anything bad happen to my site?

Always make your own backups too and store them off server. If Siteground goes bankrupt it's all you have left.

I think updraft plus free version allows automatic backups
