Nice video. There are so many ways to clean the switches and none of the ones you showed are wrong. It's just what you prefer.

True. I haven’t tried the dremel thing in an assembled machine. The file would probably still work better there.

Great video, thank you. An old school local guy advised me to use only a business card. Said files and such take off a plating of some sort. I'm trying to learn all of this mess lol

Business cards work well for stuff that hasn’t sat in a basement for 20 years. :) I found that files take a lot of material away unnecessarily. Unless the switch pads are pitted, they just need cleaned. The dremel brush polishes them up quickly and easily with no physical damage.

Next time try some brasso on a q tip. It will remove all the carbon off the contacts. It will leave the contacts looking new.

Good tip. I’ll give it a shot.

MRN BRICKS, have you tried using ultrasonic cleaners or WD60 to clean pinball switches and other pinball parts?
@MRNBricks2 жыл бұрын
I have used ultrasonic cleaners. They work pretty well. Never used them to clean switches though. WD60 or whatever is probably not a good idea in this application. My efforts are to get the old grease and dirt off of and out of the machine. Those contact cleaner type products just spray stuff everywhere and get the old grease all over other parts. Not out on a rag or something.

Do all of those switches need to be adjusted after you are done cleaning them with the dremel 443-02 .

I haven’t found them doing anything like bending them out of shape. Seems to work fine. Unless you bend them at the base, the switches usually pop right back where they were.
