I wonder what Quang would do with an infrared griddle/oven or a flamethrower to get a nice crust on a steak. Quang is the #1 do things because it’s entertaining not always practical.

I’m sure this video was decided a la minute. Air drying the steak with a little bit of salt might help with cooking times so there isn’t as much steam being produced before the outside can start browning. Just my twist my take.

this works better if you dry brine it for about 4-8 hours in the fridge or overnight. The crust comes out way more brown.

I've been cooking steaks this way for months and its aweeeesome! Try it. It doesn't make your kitchen splattered with oil and cleanup is a breeze! All you need to do is melt some butter in a pot, add in chopped garlic granules, dried thyme and rosemary, brown it a bit and pour over the steak when it is done. Best you can get. Next level up is, the charcoal grill. For a 4 mins steak, this is THE BEST WAY!

Not only not drying the steak surface, you mopped it up the water in the place before seasoning. Never knew the wetter was the better for the crust. 😕

That Cuisinart grill looks similar to models GR-5XA(Australia), GR-5J(Japan), GR-5NHK(Hong Kong), and the GR-5NTW(Taiwan). They have the on/off button for the top plate and display temp in Celsius. The grill that Quang is using displays temp in Fahrenheit. And I can't find that model on the Cuisinart sites in the US or Canada. The closest we have here is the GR-5BP1 in the US and the GR-5BC in Canada but they don't have the on/off button for the top plate. Looks like Quang got a model that was a limited run in Canada.

I used to live in this condominium complex and the guy living above me used to be very loud. He would scream “dick time” at random times during the day and evening. Just a freaky ass dude and annoying in general. One day I’m leaving and notice this guy struggling with 4 large bags of rice. It’s freakin Quang. I put 2 and 2 together right then and there.
