Great video on many levels. Very informative. Your thoroughness, attention to detail and consideration enhances your confidence and experience and is much appreciated. Now the only problem is I have this overwhelming feeling of indebtedness... so where do I send the check? Hehe Anyways it’s nice to have your resource available.

I'm curious to know if it is accepted practice to glue the inside of the joint (not the inside of a coupling, but the pipe going into one)? Doesn't this run the risk of creating uneven surfaces that could snag debris?

Hi, Great video! I'm replacing my shower pan and the drain pipe is 3/8" too short, so I got an ABS coupling ring and piece of ABS pipe (and ABS glue.) The coupling ring seems small for the pipe. I really have to force it onto the new pipe and the drain pipe that's there. Does that seem right? It looks like yours went on easily.
@ThePlumbingGurusАй бұрын
It should go on easy with abs glue. Sometimes it’s hard to insert the pipe the full fitting allowance when it dry fitted.

Im replacing a y connector in the middle of my plumbing stack, can/should I use a rubber mallet to tape all around the pipe just after gluing it together to make sure the pipe is as snug as its going to get? I tried dry fitting the pieces and they seemed pretty difficult to push together maybe it's easier with the wet Glue? But also the pieces I'm gluing into are already affixed in their position Soni can't "twists them together I mean I can twist one onto the other but it didn't work very well when I tried to dry fit it

Hi. I have a shower drain that had slow leak through some drywall. Removed the drywall and found the ABS pipe inserted in the bottom of the drain pipe was no longer glued and easily slides down. A small amount of what looks like a brown glue residue is visible on the very end of the pipe. The one thing I will not be able to do that is done in the video when applying glue is twist the pipe (since I will be connecting a drain pipe (with a trap) that is otherwise intact into the shower drain. Do you need to do anything else if you can't twist. Additional background: It does not look like glue was applied to the sides of the pipe. I'm guessing that the pipe was not glued properly when the shower was installed (but that happened before we bought the house). The previous owner clearly cut corners and ignored the proper way to do things in a number of cases and we have needed to do clean up of his work in a number of areas so I am guessing this another example.

Will ABS glue work if you can't do the "twist" at the end? I have to use ABS glue on a drain assembly fastened to a new shower pan, so it has to drop in from above onto the drain pipe. I can't "twist" the assembly and I have to attach the drain assembly to the shower pan first because it is square and fits in a square depression in the shower pan.
@ThePlumbingGurus4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is fine if you can’t twist. Just really make sure you have an even amount of glue inside the fitting and on the pipe before putting it in.

@@ThePlumbingGurus Sofar so good. It was the only brand that I had access to which has lifetime warranties on both the tools AND the batteries. I did pick up a Milwaukee drill/driver set (the M12 Fuel) for convenience cuz they're so tiny and a still crazy powerful. I can put the impact in my pocket and forget about it it's so small 😁. I still use my 18v Ryobi set for bigger projects that have bigger demands but the new Fuel set is pretty fantastic.

I just deleted my first comment out of respect for you guys & your channel, you guys seem like cool peeps I am 2 so comment removed & no harm done ✌. In reply to your reply I get it dude title the video "glue" it gains viewers 👍 but it's still your tutorial responsibility to explain the differences between (pvc glue & abs cement) for each amatuer diy'er & viewer watching, valid point? As far as what we call it in the industry, it doesn't matter because it clearly says on the can (abs cement not glue) in that hardware store or when searched on google. This is about viewers buying the right stuff, It's about many people not making the mistake of buying pvc glue for abs pipe. Keep that in mind because this could easily happen (without that specific explanation). That said for all viewers it should be identified properly because people are unaware of it & they might just accidently pick up pvc glue for abs pipe. At the very least put that In the description or add tags over your vid explaining the diff. Preventing failed inspections diy'ers running out buying the wrong stuff or home disasters later, should be just as important as gaining views. Aside from all the proper glue talk here my apologies for harsh approach. I was taken back by no specifics & still hope you edit that in. Good luck with your channel & future vids ✌
