I feel elated when I come across these kinds of versatile, simple, practical solutions to common problems. Just like you mentioned, I have scoured for products that address this issue, I’ve always thought, “there HAS to be a better way!” Or “wow I can tell after using this piece a garbage two times it’s gonna cause more problems than it solves” We unfortunately live in an age where the rate at which the loss of generationally transferred knowledge and practical skills is accelerating at a terrifying rate. So, this is just another big thank you to all the people out here, a lot of older people in particular, for taking all the time to learn about editing and shooting videos so that they can share what useful knowledge they have about home diy, construction, auto repair- for real, I think it actually makes a meaningful difference to millions of people and what they can teach others.

In construction we called those chokers, and we don't put handles on them. We just put our hand through the loop at the end of the choker and then it's easier to hang up on the wall that way.

I used a 1" schedule 40 PVC pipe, 5" long with a 3/8" hole 2" from each end through 1 side of the pipe. Insert each end of the rope through one of the holes, maneuver them to the ends, tie an overhead knot in each end, add some glue so it doesn't unravel and pull the ends inside the pipe. Slick.

Thanks girl on a swing. I was a public speaker for my former company for nearly 30 years. That experience helped me to be pretty comfortable in front of a camera. Best to you, DFJ

Great instructional video. But, you say to drill a 5" hole through the 5" dowel! Now that verges on magic! Did you mean 5/8"?

How can you drill a 5-in hole in a piece of wood that is only 1 and 1/4 inches in diameter? 😁 I also thought that toggles had hinges like toggle bolts.

Any reason why paracord wouldn't be a good option?
@maxquigley95244 жыл бұрын
But you didn't use a jointer, thickness planer, router, drill press, lathe, table saw, band saw, pocket hole jig, or 3D printer. You didn't have much fun at all.

Max Quigley - I like your viewpoint. I'll have to come up with some complex ways to do these types of simple ways to help convince DirtFarmerMaggie of further needed investments. Thanks for writing! Best Regards, DFJ
