pretty weird that dogs do basically the same. and also that humans, even if can connect punishment with a previous action that was less than 1 minute earlier, still can hold grudges forever and will remember bad things that people did more than good which usually leads to having for example trust issues. it's not like cats are horrid creatures. so even if it was a joke then this is aimed more at the people who do think that way.

Simple survival instinct, they remember what hurts them forever and avoid it, because they lack brain capacity to fully understand logics behind things. Tbh cats and dogs are overrated pets, they take way too much time, money and life changes for what they give. For example pigeons are amazing, they are more cuddly than a cat, more loyal than a dog, very intelligent, clean, sweet smelling and quiet pets, that don't require half of the amount of money. Having a pigeons as house pets, after many different pets in my life, I wonder why aren't they more popular. Not to mention pigeons are not destructive at all and will not cause any damage to your home or belogings.

Yea my cat knows what he's doing and will talk back. If he's begging too much while I cook, I tell him to go to his room (which is fine. It's got his bed and toys and a connected bathroom for his litter box). But sometimes he'll argue with me until I start to physically move him, and he runs to his room 🙄

I don't think it was. I had a cat that used to sleep on the pillow and just above my head sometimes sprawling out her legs over my head. She was a rescue baby so I was mom to her. As a baby she would sleep on my chest or if I was on my side she would be curled up against me. That cat was just trying to curl up close I think and faces are important to cats.

I've experienced this firsthand. We got a new cat, but it didn't get along with the other cats. I would sometimes let it stay in my room, and one of the other 3 cats that is the closest to me, was begging to get in my room. After using a spray can to shoo him away a few times, he stopped trying. And afterwards, I could tell he felt betrayed. He didn't let me pet him, or cradle him in my arms like I would do every day. He would really just give me the cold shoulder. So, I stopped letting the new cat in my room, and tried to win his trust back. I would begin to feed him in the bathroom that's in my room, to see if that worked. He would eat in there, but moved away whenever I tried to pet him. It was honestly so heartbreaking for me. But, one day after eating, I would call to him as he was leaving my room. I just said his name over and over again, gesturing him back, and he paused and looked at me. Then looked back like he was about to walk away. Eventually, after about 30 seconds of this, he came back to me and let me pet him. Then I cradled him in my arms, and he stayed in them and purred, and I sat back in my chair with him sleeping on my chest for a while. It was such a beautiful moment of him forgiving me and wanting to be around me again. I vowed to never betray his trust ever again. Even though he can be annoying sometimes with how much affection he wants.

Cats definitely understand cause and effect and remember their actions. If you find a “mess” that they’ve made or catch them in naughty action you can show them the results of it and they will understand.

Yup. They may only be around a 2-3 year old's level of intelligence, but; That intelligence isn't wired the same way as human intelligence. Its wired for hunting and prey reactions, so they *Very* much understand cause and effect. Conversely, they have some "holes" in they general knowledge and logic. Exactly! I didn't realize this when I first got my cat so I had to learn the hard way. Thankfully I was able to get him to trust me again and I can rub his belly even when he isn't asleep! He's laying beside me right now and I love him more than ever.

Apparently the Vet said that my cat is probably autistic and i do belive it due to the fact that since i found him he was pretty weird looking and had weird habits for cats. When he runs he jumps like a bunny, he sleeps more than 14 hours a day, he plays a lot more with the Dogs than the other cats, stuff like this. Those videos actually help me to understand if he is really that different from the other cats, and he isn't...Kinda. Thanks to those videos i learned that i've been having a good cat owner and will probably get another One soon :)
