I did a consultation recently and one of the questions I was asked is what's the best way to get pesos. Then I was talking to my mom who's coming for our wedding and the first question she asked is what's the best way to get pesos. Then I was talking to my dad who's also coming for the wedding and one of his first questions was how to get pesos. Since everyone seems to be asking me this question, I decided to do this video on the best ways to get pesos when coming to Mexico. Please share with someone who may need it!

@davidsebastianelli13262 ай бұрын
@@aarongarcia1101 That's not good advice. I use a Charles Schwab debit card. They give you a really good exchange rate and they refund your ATM use fees and don't charge any foreign transaction fee, exchange rate fee or transfer fees if you transfer from bank to bank in the US. I just transfer money as needed from my main bank and I am able to do all of my banking online for free. What method do you use or recommend? Right off the bat most all US banks charge you a 3% foreign exchange rate when you use their cards. Buena suerte!

Transfer money into their US bank for $3.00 and it uses close to the spot rate at that time. When you use it at any MX bank ATM, it will come up with the usual fee for Mexican banks (right now about 71 pesos with a 9000 peso limit) with no conversion scam popping up. I use it to pay my rent in cash.

Great advice. Thank you. I go to México at least once a month (Dental Braces). I also have family in México city. I got tired of paying the ridiculous fees for sending money, so I decided to open a BBVA México bank account. I use the border exchange houses that usually charge 1 to 2 pesos fee and cross the border. Then, I deposit it through the ATM free of charge. I gave a México bank credit card from the same account to my sister with a limit of 10,0000 pesos per month. She uses it and I pay it using my phone app for free. Granted BBVA does charge me $35 yearly fee for the card. But that's the cheapest way I have found. When on Vacation I use your no foreign transaction fee credit card method with some cash (Pesos). Now ask me how I cross the border (via car) with only 25 to 45 minute wait in Tijuana.
@davidsebastianelli132611 ай бұрын
Hola Jordon and May y feliz anos nuevo! At the BBVA where I live in Ensenada the ATM doesn't give you the option to not accept their conversion rate and their ATM usage fees are the highest that I've run into at around $9 to $10us. Last year was the last time I went there and the conversion rate they wanted to give me was 14.91 so I declined and walked over to the HSBC and they gave me 17.41 where the going rate on the XE app at the time was 17.45 and I saved what amounted to $67.42 on a $7000 peso withdrawal. I have a Temporary Resident Visa and was told by a BBVA bank employee that I couldn't open an account there. What I've been doing is just transferring money to my C. Schwab debit card from my main bank as I need it each month and use it to take out the cash I need and it works great. I've been told that it is a good thing to have two bank accounts and do it that way so if your debit card gets hacked, lost or stolen they can steal only the amount that is in that account. BTW- The Citibanamex ATM's that I've used don't give an option to decline but they at least give you a comparable exchange to the going rate. FYI- Mexico is still a cash based society and merchants along with landlords prefer you pay in cash for obvious reasons. Also, I've heard most banks have a limit as to how much cash you are able to withdraw at their ATM's on a daily basis of around $300 to $400us. If the bank you use it one of those, plan ahead when your rent is due. Buena suerte!
