How Much percentage of allocation should be in gold for balanced allocation in all. 3. Is there a co relation between debt mutual fund and gold fund as both move opposite of equity.

As usual nicely explained, to add more value in my view if someone want to hedge his overall portfolio than physical gold in the form of coins or bars is best option. For saving taxes and earning higher return real state and equity are better placed. In case of extreme emergency only physical gold will act as an international curency. Actually we can say physical gold is real friend in case of extreme emergency, as Friend in need is a friend indeed.

You mentioned that in SGB if you earn a rise of 10% plus additional 2.5% as annual interest that makes your annual profit as 12.5% but that I think that 10% rise is not redeemed by you. You only get the hiked value of gold what you earn after 8 years of maturity, for you the annual profit is just 2.5% that too is taxed.

Big subscriber of your work! Could you explain , what do you mean by "Secondary market"? As I am planning to invert in Gold bonds.
@ETMONEY2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Secondary market is an exchange where previously issued securities are traded. E.g. the daily shares of Reliance, Infosys etc. that we buy and sell is happening in the secondary market. On the other hand, first time issues like an IPO (when that happens) is in the primary market. So in the case of SGB, say you bought it when it was first issued then you have bought it from the primary market. But if you bought it from someone else (not RBI) then you have dipped into the secondary market. Hope this helps

Shankar Sir You keep on saying that no one can time the market, so I wanted to discuss a strategy wherein I invest my money in the form of an SIP each month, but I invest only on the days when the market is down by 2-5%, just to get that extra benefit. My question being, am I trying to time the market ? And how can this strategy be counterproductive in the long run ??
@MineITINERARY3 жыл бұрын
This can be counter-productive because 1) You never know what bottom level the market can reach 2) Mutual fund will not get their regular Money from you , they also need to survive right like operating expenses, they cannot pay salary to their employees only when the Market is low.. :) :) ;) ;) Timing the market if done correctly can be great , its just that Fund houses dnt want you to put ur head in that for their own benefit
