People don't watch tierlists for the he accuracy of placement. It's definitely how you said it. There are variables that change everything. People watch tierlists, though they may not know it, for the details.( i.e This spear has such and such details that make it better than another in this scenario. But in this other scenario, use a different spear with an AOE ash. Etc)

People who are experts in a topic are often either not very good at explaining their preferences or they're not as aware of all the assumptions they're making that other people aren't just naturally picking up on. A tier list is a great structured way for them to explain their knowledge and including pros and cons and comparative advantage that ties all these different ideas together

That chatter who said GUGS doesn't work on high lat -- I think it very clearly works BETTER on high lat. Trades are more common as latency increases. They already happen more accidentally, but it's easier to force them too. There aren't many things in the game that are going to outtrade a GUGS 2h tali+spear tali+retaliatory crossed tree crouch poke counter hit.

Yes it's actually super frustrating to fight a laggard or high lat player using GUGS. The amount of fights I lose to them because of accidental trades is so frustrating.

Most of the time, when people who hate "meta" in elden ring are asked to give their reasons why (apart from the most common non-argument of "meta is boring") one of the top reasons people give is something along the lines of "if everyone uses meta then there's no variety". In reality there's actually tons of weapons/setups in the game that are competitive/viable, but there's little to no content out there that presents this info in a straightforward way that new players can learn from, so I think more content like this would be great for the game as a whole. It doesn't necessary have to be a tier list, but I'd love to see any kind of content that shows just how many setups in the game are strong/competitively viable, demonstrating how much variety their actually is in this game. Besides the ones shown in this video, there are a ton more weapons and setups that are very strong e.g. Stone Club Claws of Night Treespears Warped Axe Twinned Knight swords Milady w/sword dance CGS (Bhf/Dismounter) PS Pikes/Nagis (significantly weaker post nerf, but they were so good to begin with they're still strong) And probably many more I can't think of right now, the people who are actually experiencing a lack of variety are the ones limiting themselves to only setups on the same tier as Colossals or PS Flails

@@lukaogadze5071 PSGS got shot hard in the dlc patch. Twinblade is as good as it was before, which means very good (played multiple times in tourney)

@@Smaxy_ idk why but i thought it got poise damage nerf like many other weapons. i don't play tournaments(i hate discord). but i constantly use psgs in meta lvl. it take more skill to use them. i use 2 or 3 talismans to boost damage and i can increase tracking by manual aiming.

@@Smaxy_ i also utilize many other attacks + wave dahs and wiggle. my biggest skill is neutral jump attack with psgs. you can dodge tons of attacks even anti air ones if you time your jump.

I find more success using the regular Dueling Shield but I could be the odd one out. I do it because only physical damage gets the "counter hit thrusting damage" multiplier, so the extra magic damage from Carian doesn't get buffed by it. Most of the attacks are thrusting attacks that I'm trying to trade with anyway, and the extra guard boost doesn't feel like it comes into play because I'll be guard broken in 2 hits regardless. I'd recommend the Dueling Shield to someone who wants to play to it's strengths and the Carian to someone who just wants to play more loose with it.
