This head came on my Troy Bilt. In my opinion it's no different than all the other gimmicky pre-load heads on the market. I could trim one, maybe two properties before the blades wore down completely. Replacement packs cost $12 and include two sets of blades. That's $6 per change. In contrast, I can get 80 feet of Stihl line for $15. There's no comparison.
@WHOTEEWHO8 жыл бұрын
+MullaneyRC I have had different experience. They last a very long time for me, lasts too many times to count before needing to be swapped. Lasts much longer than any of the other standard lines....and I have tried many.

In my experience, blades beat strings hands down - found out the annoying way myself. Well, now I live in an apartment, and watering my flowers is all I have to deal with.
@bcrusher19797 жыл бұрын
I tried this head and I like the way it cuts and it works really well except up against concrete or steel. If you keep it away from hard ruff surfaces and only cut grass it will last a long time. But for heavy brush and stuff its not worth the money.

I actually wanted to see how strong the blades held up to different things, like metal chain link fence and metal poles, around tree's.
@WHOTEEWHO7 жыл бұрын
+Erich Stein I have used the same blades for over 7 months now without changing them. Used against chain link, trees, fencing, thick brush, and plain old grass. 6 month followup video is all trimming clips of using the 6 month old blades. Just like any other string, it is not meant to be used for long periods of time up against chain link or concrete, however these have held up very well. Very good investment. Thanks for watching!

I have this exact trimmer head and Areo flex blades that came with my Troy Bilt XP trimmer. The weed eater itself and the blades are just terrible. If you touch anything with those blades but grass it chews them up just as fast as regular line. With this issue I burn thru a pack of these blades very fast and they're not cheap. I'm done buying these and bolting on 4 chainsaw chains, each about 8 inches in length to the cutting head. If that don't work I'll bolt on a circular saw blade. Bring on the dangerousness!
@coachga24 жыл бұрын
I put one of the Aero-Flex attachments on my Troy Bilt machine. It does a nice job of weed-eating, but my blades are wearing out very fast. Replacement blades are about 69 cents each at Lowe’s. I was able to get a pack of 96 blades directly from Aero-Flex for about 50 cents each (delivered). This is still $2 every time they wear out. I ate up 5 sets of blades weed-eating my driveway, sidewalk, and rock walls around my flower beds. I will continue to use it this summer. My technique can probably get better, and make the blades last longer.

My Engineer Niece taught me that same saying about 17 years ago when I was trying to open something the wrong way and it has helped me out so many times to remember how to remove things like my locked gas cap on my car which I could never get off and always had to ask for help at the gas station. All that time I was turning it the wrong way!! (Rightie tightie leftie loosie) Maybe next she can help me with spelling as the older I get the less I can spell correctly, and yet when I worked for the school system teachers in the classroom actually asked me how to spell words!! Who knew age would affect your spelling, so beware young people as we all get old and forgetful!!

I tried these a while back and thought it was ok, but due to how quickly they wore down and the high cost of replacement, I went back to stock. I have actually purchased a weedshark and I am going to try that, looks promising and at a fraction of the cost of those 10 dollar a month blades/nylons. Good review though
@WHOTEEWHO7 жыл бұрын
+Michael Jude i have not had to replace mine yet after 6 months. I make a point not to bump it up against fencing or concrete so it does not wear quickly though. I hope the weedshark works well for you

I use the Stihl quick change head on all my trimmers. You cut 2 pieces of string and feed them into the head. When they break you just feed in another piece of precut line. simple and easy I have 4 trimmers and I use it on all of them.
@WHOTEEWHO6 жыл бұрын
+JIMMY TATE i got tired of having to walk around with 20 pieces of precut line in my pocket and even that not being enough to even do a small yard
@skytale355 жыл бұрын
Terrible waste of strong ng and money. Bump feed you waste about 14 inches per 20 feet. Fixed head you waste more than half, and you actually spend Moore time dicking around with the heads than spending the 3 minutes to restring once an hour.
@WHOTEEWHO5 жыл бұрын
Disagree. I used this head for over 6 months with the same original blades. I'll never use bump heads again
@daves.94797 жыл бұрын
Good for what you're doing there (a nice lawn), but if you're whacking in less favorable conditions (rocks, Scotch broom or other tough-stemmed shrubs, metal fence posts, etc.) I think a bump feed is better. Such obstacles make it easy to shear off sections of lines, and the time and cost to replace pre-cut lines every few minutes makes them a PITA. Any line can shear off, but it's faster and simpler and cheaper to get back in operation when there's a spool of line on the whacker and a bump feed.
@WHOTEEWHO7 жыл бұрын
+Dave S. Hey Dave! I will never use a bump head again. Too much frustration in loading them and such. I am still using these original blades after probably about 12 months

Looks like an interesting trimmer head. I thought about one of those for my trimmers but the brute power of my Stihl FS-250R, KM-94R and my Husqvarna 525L would probably destroy them. Cool design though.I actually bought the new Stihl autocut 26-2 head for all three trimmers. The Husqvarna required a new nut to put the head on due to different pitch threads but very well worth it. It works very good and is easy and fast to reload without taking the head apart. The Stihl FS-250R is the most powerful and blade capable for brush clearing. Nothing stops it. The KM-94R is a powerful pro series trimmer that you can run attachments on. The Husqvarna 525L is a pro series trimmer that is light, powerful and will chew through pretty much anything green and growing except for wood stemmed growth. If that Weedeater brand trimmer ever gives up the fight you can't go wrong with any of the three trimmers above. This is coming from someone that runs them hard and for long hours on tough jobs. They take it and keep on ripping when ever I need them. They are a bit more expensive but you will not need another for quite a long time. Oh and all three are very quick and easy to start. 👍👍

When did you purchase your Aeroflex head? as i recently purchased a Trimmer plus AF730 attachment for my attachment capable Kobalt 80v trimmer and it cuts better at low speeds conserving my battery life. whats neat is now the glider head on it so i can rest the trimmer on the ground when i do mowing with it . as i have the other attachments the cultivator, hedge trimmer, pole saw, blower when i had a Troy Bilt TB425 CS 4 cycle trimmer. but when that broke i went to battery which is just in time as California and other states are banning the sale of gasoline engine powered equipment under 25 hp by 2024. but it was good i found a good suitable electric powerhead to run my existing attachments but it came with a straight shaft lower section and OH YES i love the Aeroflex with the glider like before with a cutting line when mowing i end up scalping the lawn but the glider solves the problem and gives you 2 1/2 in cut when held level with the glider on the ground.

Ive kwik feed, speed feed, shindaiwa fixed heads...all great for homeowners. The stihl autocut is just a horrible design, you have to cut 2 pieces of line instead of one...that is dumb plus trying to hold the line in place and insert and twist the spindle is just ridiculous. Best trimmer heads out there are husky t35x t45x and t55x tap n go heads. The center button is seated with a ball bearing allowing it to not spin with the rest of the head when bumping it...this really saves on grinding out the bottom. The T35 doesnt have the bearing bump but it does function the same otherwise and you can get them for $20. Bump heads are the only way to effectively trim for multiple hours at a time. Best trimmer lines for small lines are Rotary Brand Vortex, cuts more level and its quite durable. For big lines .130 and above go with their cyclone line hexagon shaped and it cuts well and is the longest lasting line I’ve used.

WHO_TEE_WHO The parasitic drag using heavy line eats up a good portion of the power before you even attempt to cut anything. If we used that on my jobs I'd go broke. Trimmer line is made in various sizes for good reason. To match the cutting conditions and/or the size of the machine to the cord. Spinning those massive things is ridiculous when it's completely unnecessary.

I recommend it to anyone. For the average joe these are great! Saves me tons of time and from having to mess with string

this thing chewed up the plastic trim sticks in one go-round of my (small) back yard! This is like those very cheap printers that need expensive ink. Not good

Hey Bill! That's weird. I used the original blades for over 6 months in my BIG yard. Bummer you had different results. I even filmed a 6 month followup video

Bummer indeed. I've kept my yard for 25 years. Been using spooled line for all that time. Thought I'd give this a try. Cool tech but literally cannot afford to keep it. Maybe you've got the karma, but as a number of comments to this video indicate, we don't all have it. Cannot endorse this product.

You are a outkast fan I presume. Weedeater brand trimmers are really poorly made junk and that head is not much better. The stihl 25-2 autocut heads are better but nothing is 100% always guaranteed without any exception except probably death and that you can't take anything with you if there is anywhere we go excluding the ground.

+Phillip Kramer outcast fan? I dont get it? I've had this cheapo weedeater for years and it has never failed me. Im all about the value. Posting a 6 month followup video to this one tonight. Thanks for watching!
