If I may also add you should also take into consideration the environment you are cracking in. I would never use a leather whip in a Rocky or sandy area with little to no grass or even in an area that gets lots of rain or is muddy. In those conditions I belive the nylon or other synthetic whips are the better choice. It's what I always tell my friends that ask what whip I would recommend. Though ultimately it is their choice

I bought a whip on Amazon for $115 bucks when I do cattlemens cracks with it. It just sucks. It's a 10 footer maybe that's why. It's got a scorpion on the logo. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do to get some good cracks. It doesn't form a good loop when you throw it up. Basically what I'm asking is can you give me a great quality suggestion for a good whip. The money not too worried about I understand you get what you pay for.

It can be really hard to get decent cracks out of a cheap Amazon whip. Try cracking it against the natural curl of the thong. This helps form a loop easier. Also holding it by the heel knot, helps with leverage. Flicks are usually easier on longer whips. If you’re looking for higher quality whip, I make kangaroo hide and nylon whips. @@Okie_bullwhips thank you so much for taking the time to answer me, I really think an 8 foot slick Indiana Jones style bull whip is what I want, I'm willing to spend two or 300 tops
