* Sorry guys, I forgot to mention arguably THE most important feature of the Saramonic Blink 500 Pro -- you can choose to record in either Mono (1 track) audio, or Stereo (2 track) audio. Recording in Stereo allows you to separate the audio tracks in post-production and fine-tune each one in editing. This is a HUGE upgrade over the old Saramonic Blink 500 which only allowed you to record in Mono.
@matt.winklerez3 жыл бұрын
thank you @Gemini Connect for this crucial info! I am an owner of previous generation Blink 500 and it was huge let down to discover this fact after my purchase. Not being able to separate audio tracks makes this whole concept useless. In spontaneous real world situations both audio sources talk simultaneously quite often - especially when they don't talk to each other, but with someone else (in group, etc.). And even if Audio person A talks directly to audio person B, it's a natural human tendency in non-interview situation to not let other person quite finish her/his sentence, but start your own. I shot amazing BTS footage with Sony ZV-1 and old Blink 500, but due to overlapped talking mixed forever into one track, audio was, most of the time, basically unusable. After that sadly I had to ditch device, also I was too far and too late to ask for a refund.

I personally have used the Rode Wireless Go set up for a while now and haven't had any issues. In conjunction with the Deity Duo or a splitter, I have the flexibility to do two-person audio when needed. However, Saramonic seems to have done a great with this package. If I knew someone who had no external audio solution I would definitely suggest this package to them. Saramonic has always offered good value solutions for creators. Great review guys. I would be interested in seeing a long-term review in the future.

Still i would prefer my Comica Boomx D2 which have 2 mics and all simillar functions like the LCD screen and the ability to plug in Lav mic and monitor audio through headphone jack. Plus they have a very secure Deadcat (wind muf) system. Only draw back that they only have mute buttons on the transmitter and not on the receiver. They are pretty small in size as well. My Comica Boomx D2 can record audio in Stereo also which i can split into 2 separate tracks in post and delete anyone later in case someone messes up the audio.

We have the Comica Boom too and will be reviewing that mic system soon. It has some features that are indeed better than Saramonic. FWIW the Saramonic Blink 500 Pro can also record in Stereo audio with 2 tracks -- the non-pro version only recorded in Mono.

I bought the original Rode Wireless Go when it first came out, and I've used it constantly (though just for casual vlogging). I've had a very good experience with it. Some time after I bought it, however, other companies came out with their versions that had two microphone transmitters, such as the Comica and the Saramonic. These competitors also seemed to be better value, because a lot more accessories were included in the box, such as 2 lavalier mics. You had to buy these accessories separately with the Rode Wireless Go. But I stuck with the Rode. I really liked the sleek and elegant form factor, and the audio quality. To my ears, the Rode sounded quite a bit better. The ability to have two microphone transmitters was appealing, but it wasn't something I absolutely needed for simple one-person vlogging. So, the Rode Wireless Go suited me perfectly. But I did keep wondering when Rode would release the new version of the Wireless Go. I assumed the new version would also have the ability to pair two transmitters with one receiver. They had to do that in order to compete, and I was puzzled why it was taking them so long to release the Wireless Go II. But as you know, I'm sure, Rode just announced it. I'm looking forward to your review. I've checked out a bunch of reviews on KZbin and elsewhere so far, and I really like what I see. Based on the features it offers, I think it will take the market by storm. A lot of people have been waiting for it. After watching these reviews, it is making more sense to me why it took Rode so long to release the new version. They didn't only add the ability to pair two transmitters with one receiver. It seems they changed and improved a lot more than just that. For example, I really like the ability to record audio internally right in the Rode. I'm not quite sure how that feature will work in real life, but it sounds interesting. The technical features seem to have been improved greatly as well, with lots more bells and whistles that will appeal to pros and audiophiles (such as the new app controls). And they reworked some of the physical features, too, which should appeal to casual users like me. The wind muff is now screwed into place and held there firmly. I really like that. And they even changed the cord's design, which I really like. And it looks like they managed to do all this while keeping the units roughly the same size and with the same simple but attractive form factor. I hope Rode sends you a unit in the mail so you can review it for your viewers. 🙂👍
@Gemini_Connect3 жыл бұрын
We agree with your sentiments 100%. Rode has been and still is our go-to microphone brand, but the competition has gotten fierce. It wasn't long ago that we would laugh off brands like Comica, but their new releases have not only been Innovative, but really really good. Rode says it will be sending us a review unit soon. We are very excited to test it out and compare to Saramonic, Comica, and Hollyland. Stay tuned!

Hi Gimini Connect, Thanks for taking your time to make this review. I was (bought the Blink 500 Pro B2) in the market for a wireless audio solution and some affirmation I did good is always nice. You need a lot of affirmation as a newbee :-) Some other reviewers wisdom that might help. You can dim the display after 10 seconds so that should help. The death cat can be fixed secure, a reviewer shake it holding the furry no problem. As far as the branding, something like black electric tape could help?
@Gemini_Connect3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips, Lex. Yes, the screen can indeed be dimmed. The windscreen attachment, however, is very flimsy. It's the same attachment system as the Rode Wireless Go, which is also not very good. Gaff tape could be used to cover the logos, but that shouldn't be necessary--better if they omit the logo from the clip as Rode, Comica, and Hollyland have done with their wireless mic systems.

Again my memory might fail me but I think Apple wiring is the least conforming. So unhelpfully, that can mean that source and output may be wired two ways, with the cable between them conforming to neither. The result is usually one side sound only.

Can you plug a flute into it? Jk 299 is a little pricey but they did make a lot of improvements and you get two mic's instead of one! I can see myself buying this and using it for a while.
@Gemini_Connect3 жыл бұрын
Lol! Yeah, it costs a lot, but you're getting 2 mics and a ton of other features so it's arguably worth it.

Is this compatible for iPhone 11?
@Gemini_Connect3 жыл бұрын
I think so, if you have the right cable. We don't use iPhones, but have heard they no longer come with 3.5mm mic jacks. If that is true, you'll need an iPhone cable.
@mjhmarkvlog29963 жыл бұрын
may question is blink 500 compatible smartphone? thanks love it
@Gemini_Connect3 жыл бұрын
It can be, yes. The kit includes 2 cables for connecting the mic system to your camera. One cable is a TRRS (for smartphones) and the other a TRS (for cameras). Use the TRRS on your phone if it has a 3.5mm mic jack.

Your killing me Suzi! Went to get the Rode Go and it's sold out in the USA everywhere, and I checked everywhere. I do have reason to pick up this Saramonic unit even with the extra $100 because I do have a partner I can mic up also. But similar to the Rode, it's not available for a month to two months.

The Saramonic isn't available in the USA? Last I checked it was...

Your affiliate link says its not available for 30 to 60 days. And other online locations say not in stock

@@PNW1441 might be a regional issue. I just checked the link and it says it's fully in stock for me.
@PNW14413 жыл бұрын
@@Gemini_Connect yeah im not sure why it was showing it that way, cleared browser on mobile and desktop and they showed the same situation with the Saramonic units. Local vendors - Kenmore Camera said they had them when I got their email this morning. But I had already pulled the trigger on the Hollyland Lark 150 at that point. Will arrive via Amazon tomorrow.
@Gemini_Connect3 жыл бұрын
@@PNW1441 That's so strange! Sorry it didn't work out with the Saramonic, but that Hollyland Lark looks pretty solid. We're waiting for our unit to arrive and will do a review once we get it.

great ... what is a decent vlogging system for my daughter . for in and outdoors . , small yet with long battery and memory thanks guys keep the vids coming
@Gemini_Connect3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, a modern smartphone is probably best if you're vlogging indoors and outdoors. GoPro is great, but only if you have enough lighting (sometimes it can be lacking indoors).

@@Gemini_Connect she keeps trashing her screens . i thought maybe a small camera with a tough housing

@@tomhughes5123 You can try GoPro, but again, it may not perform well indoors.
@tomhughes51233 жыл бұрын
@@Gemini_Connect thanks .. i reckon i could sort a lcd screen out for indoors . i have tons of stands for lighting heads etc, i figure its got to be cheaper than new i phones , they must have the thinnest crappyest screans going .

No dropouts as long as the lav mic or built in mic is clipped securely to the subject.
