Thanks for these recommendations pro/con. Now I understand why Bluehost gives such horrible/non existent support. I just left them today and am shopping for a new provider. Will check out InMotion and A2, whose "support" people are not on the other side of the planet and speak incomprehensibly. Have subscribed to your channel and will stay with you. Now all I need is someone to walk me through picking a good WP theme (responsive, cstomizeable, translation-ready). I am happy to buy a theme but the choices - ARGH!

Trust is why we keep listening to you Adam. I wish i could agree on A2 hosting though. Several years ago had to ask for a refund it was so bad. I've never had issues with the few EIG owned hosts I've used, only changed because of their prices. I'm with namecheap right now and very happy. Hosting reviews are very difficult to trust in general and therefore hard to decide. Good information though.

Yea I am trying to be 1000% transparent here so people can make their own decisions and maybe shared hosting is not even the right type of hosting. Hello Adam, I want to thank you for your so useful content, I want also to ask you something: I have one of my sites in Cloudflare for the last half a year. When I got in, I was in the 2nd page for my main keyword. Later started a few problems here and there (520 error) that made my site invisible. The last 2 months the problems stopped after the help of CF support team but my website continues to be dissapeared for the main kwrds. Do you think that the hosting provider plays a role on these results?
@WPCrafter
@WPCrafter 5 жыл бұрын
While sorry to hear that there was some reason that Google couldn't see your website and you went down in rankings for a particular keyword. You should always make sure that. you have Google web console connected to your website so whenever Google sees an error they will notify you via email so that you could resolve it. However the only thing that your host would have to do with ranking for anything is a faster loading website tends to rank a little better.

Hi, Adam- I have a few questions for you: 1. SiteGround lost their PCI Compliance in December 2019 (on month after I signed up, ugh), because they dropped cPanel for their own control panel I was told. How does not being PCI Compliant affect Ecommerce websites? Should I be looking for another webhost? 2. In the video you mention how using cPanel makes it easy to migrate to a new web host. Is this really true? If I decide to switch from SiteGround to another web host, won't I be able to just restore my backup to the new web host, as long as I'm developing in Gutenberg? 3. Can you recommend 1 or 3 good Facebook groups for web design? Thanks! I've really learned a lot from your videos!
@WPCrafter
@WPCrafter 3 жыл бұрын
You don't have to have a PCI compliant host for Ecommerce because the payment info is not stored on your site. It's passed straight to the payment processor. Yes cPanel is easy to transfer the entire cPanel account to another host.

My experience has been quite different with all 3 of the hosts you recommend. A few years ago I tried SiteGround, but they were unable to successfully transfer the first site I tried to move to them. (I was able to move that site to another host myself, so it wasn't the site's problem.) I tried A2 because of their reputed 99.9% uptime & reliability, and had more downtime than I've ever had on any host before or since. I've used InMotion for over a year, but I've experienced frequent short outages and periods of poor performance with them. I am also using Bluehost's cloud hosting service, and it (perhaps surprisingly) has been faster and more reliable for me than either A2 or InMotion. Just a data point; YMMV.

Well, I didn't say to not trust anyone. I recommend avoiding small companies because they don't usually have the depth of experience on their staff nor the financial resources to invest in infrastructure. Similarly Immotion on Oct 15, 16. What caused these discrepancies? Thanks.

I think you may be misunderstanding how monitoring works. A hosting company will have hundreds to thousands of servers. You can only monitor the server that my 1 website is on, same goes for that other monitor. If a website has a moment where the monitor can't connect, that doesn't mean the entire host is down, it simply means that the monitor could not connect to this 1 website on this 1 server at that 1 moment. Does that make sense?
