I don’t understand why people will say 180 is too much for a work boot that will last for years but will buy a 1000 cell phone that’s out of date in three years.

I used to be the guy who would buy cheap socks and cheap boots. Until i finally understood that i want my body to last me through my golden years. Im 38 years old, its way more important for me to feel good rather than look cool or spend less money. We treat cell phones, cars, tvs, etc like treasure....and our bodys like trash. Wise up people. Pay the money for good quality for your health

A word of advice to all when it comes to work boots, or everyday boots or shoes. When people say they last me 6 months or 1 year...or whatever, this is the key; buy 2, or better 3 pairs to interchange. They do not need to be the same, but can be. The key is to give a pair 1- 2 days break, to properly air out and dry. This comes from someone in the shoe business (not me). They will last longer and be more comfortable on your feet. At the outset, it 3 times the price, but logically, if you normally got 6 months, you will now get 18 months. But the reality is that they will go more than 18 months because the break of 2 days will help the boot last longer. Even the super expensive boots that cost more than $350 have a hard time of 8-10 hour days, 5 days a week...as the months go by , the repeated use with little chance of recovery for the best leather quality or other technologies used on a boot, have trouble holding up when used 40-50 hours every single week, for months on end. Second most important thing, get good insoles. Some boots come with decent to pretty good insoles, but many stick a cheap piece of memory foam. you are paying $100 to $250 for your work boots, spend $20 on a good insole, you won't regret it. Third and last items...socks. Cotton socks are not good, no matter what anyone tries to tell you. For 3-4 hours going out to dinner, they get by. For 8+ hours in a boot, they are killing your feet and boots. Get a (many) pair of decent Merino wool socks. They absorb somewhere in the 8-10 times more than cotton. Keeping your feet dry is half the battle in comfort for your feet and making your boots last longer. If you want to spend a couple of $$$ more, there are fancier Merino socks with extra cushioning on the sole, or for your shin where your laces are tied. But even a simple 4 pack of Merino socks at Costco will go a long way to helping you be more comfortable. Of course, you don't need the best, but a decent pair of boots to start with, helps. By this I mean that Walmart $25 specials work boots; insoles, socks and whatever else won't help. If you try buying a 2nd pair of boots now and put them in rotation, then in a month or 2 get a 3rd pair for the rotation, put decent insoles in them (if they are needed), and go with some wool (Merino wool is better, but just wool over cotton), your feet should live a whole new experience.

I bought those Keen boots. At the tongue where it ties into the boot it felt like a big lump of material bunched up. It was almost like somebody had put a gravel in the boot. I tried to break it in while tightened up around the ankle, and loose. Both were excruciatingly painful due to this knot. I emailed keen and left a review on their website. Neither was worthy of their response at all. Ultimately, the boots got about 4 days of use and were wasted money.

I’m a welder and have had keen boots for the past few years. The first pair (forgot the make) we’re not cut out for welding and the tongue/lace area melted out and rendered them useless in a year or so. I really enjoyed how comfortable they were and how wide the toe box was so I got a pair of the San Jose 6” aluminum toes. They have been comfortable, but have many flaws. First and most importantly, the soles were glued on poorly. Within 3 weeks the sole delaminated and started coming of on both the toe and heel on the right boot. Being an iron worker walking through crowed urban housing construction sites, up and down ladders/stairs, driving heavy equipment, this became a major safety issue. I have had to keep a bottle of boot glue in my toolbox because of it. Secondly, the stitching connecting the sole to the boot is weak as well, mainly in the heel, so now the entire sole, not just the bottom layer is also coming off the boot. Third, they are no longer waterproof. I work in the Pacific Northwest (where keen is headquartered) and it rains constantly. Last few times I went out on site while it was raining my feet were completely soaked by the end of my shift. I’ve only had these boots for a little over a year and have to get new ones now. Are there any viewers who’ve used the Cincinnati’s in the rain for extended time? Do they actually hold up to PNW weather and the demands of being an iron worker in the field?

I've worn a lot of different boots, but by far the georgia boots with a cc408 or cc119 comfort core insole is the most comfortable. Its double stacked. The insole is twice as thick as anything else out there. These insoles are proprietary. They won't fit in any other boots. The sole of the boot has pockets on the inside of the footbed and heel for these special insoles to fit. This makes the boot very flexible from the start and feels like they are already broken in. It almost feels like you are walking around on a rubber squishy mat. No I'm not an expert. I'm a diabetic so foot care is extremely important to me. The problem is that Georga Boot has stopped making these particular boots and insoles.

None of my boots were mentioned. The ones you mentioned I'm not sure where to get them. I always used to wear Kodiak. The tried Nats. Nats were crap not even lasting a year. I had a pair of Snap On boots that were great. Lasting years till the soles no longer had tread. I then went to Dakota boots. Good boots. Then and finally Terra. My summer and winter boots are Terra. My winter boots are Terra cross bows. Fantastic boots. I'm a tow truck driver so I'm out in the elements all night. There is nothing worse than cold or wet. Or both cold and wet feet. Through the snow, slush and water. I have three pairs. One pair I managed to cut through the side of the boot. Accident vehicles sometimes have sharp edges. So I bought another pair. I'm going to get the other ones repaired. I bought another pair this winter because of a mix up at my storage place.

Nice boot review. But as others have said here, many blue-collar workers who haven't hit their top tier pay scale yet or maybe the appendices might have a hard time dropping $250 or more for a good pair of premium work boots. That's a lot of money for many workers out there in today's economy. And I know I'm going to hear it from the boot snobs that you get what you pay for and $250 isn't a high price to pay for a good quality work boot. And I'm not going to argue with any of those guys because in many cases, they're 100% right! But some people out there just can't afford boots that cost that much. It's a just a fact of life for some. The reality is, some people shop at thrift stores for their work clothes or maybe the sales at Target or Wal-Mart and purchase Wrangler blue jeans on clearance for only $10 a pair instead of going out and paying $50 or more for a pair a Levis at Macy's or Kohl's because they've got 3 or 4 kids to feed with one on the way and they can't afford to spend 4 or 5 times the price for those jeans. And the same goes for work boots in many cases! So, speaking from experience here, over the last 4 or 5 years, I've been purchasing DeWalt work boots from Home Depot when they're on sale as a daily deal or sometimes a clearance sale and I've gotten my size for about $50 a pair when they're on sale. I'll typically get 2 pairs at a time when I get them so I can rotate them in case 1 pair gets wet from sweaty feet or soaked from heavy rain one day so I'll always have a dry pair to wear to work. This strategy has worked well for me lately age holds me over for up to 2 years or more with these DeWalt work boots. I'm not saying they're the best work boot out there by any means. But they're not bad either. I've actually owned much worse so I know what a bad work boot feels like. Trust me! And these DeWalt work boots aren't that bad. I was actually expecting them to be worse than they actually are. So for me, the DeWalt work boot is decently comfortable, they fit well, they don't hurt my feet, they seem to last just as long as some of my other premium work boots have lasted, and they get the job done while saving me a few dollars. So for only $50 these work boots are also 3, 4 or 5 times cheaper than many of the boots that were highlighted in the video today. So for the guys who are on a tight budget or just don't have the means to purchase $250 or $300 work boots every year or two, you should give the DeWalt work boots sold at Home Depot.com a try. I've seen them in some stores too on occasion, but your best option is to buy them online because the selection of style and size will be best online and if there's an issue with them, once you get them delivered, you can return them at any Home Depot store within 90 days for a full refund. So far, none of them have let me down over the last 4 or 5 years and none have failed prematurely. In my eyes, $50 is a "best bargain" boot price! Not the $150 they were talking about in the video. Lol The way I see it, for $50 a pair if you can catch a sale, what do you have to lose by giving them a try? I think many will find that they're not that bad for a $50 boot. And then you can use the saved $200 to pay for some new school clothes you'll need to get for the kids cause they grow like weeds and outgrow their clothes every 3 or 4 months! 😂 Good luck everyone!

IN MY EXPERIENCE! Brunt work wear aboslutely sucks. 9 month summer work season and they lasted about 7 months before they became unbearable. the tread on the bottom held up but the soles kind of drifted off to the side. my feet would sit straight in the boots and the soles would sit at about a 30 degree angle. very uncomfortable. one side of the soles wore out faster than the other so it put a lot of strain on my ankle. definitely wouldn’t buy another pair. weird though that i’ve heard people say they are the best things ever and i’ve heard people say they are the worst thing ever. they look great and they were comfortable when i bought them but they just didn’t hold up

Also the ugliest boots. What's with the white bottoms? They will look like garbage after wearing them once in any work environment. Do any of the designers wear boots?

I’ve had three pairs of Red Wings, three pairs of Thorogoods, one pair of Carolinas, and two pairs of Keens. So far, Brunt has been the most comfortable boot right out of the box.

😅😂😂😂🤣🤣😅🤣😂😅😅 Nobody is shilling for Thursday? Work is different for all of us. More than one way to do hard work. Climbing ladders, digging trenches, exposure to chemicals, working out in the rain or a hurricane, working out in the snow, hazmat exposures.........

Avoid Wolverine boots. Horrible customer service and misleading information regarding returns. Their website states free returns but they don't mention anywhere that the original shipping charge is not refunded. Lesson learned for $8, never dealing with that company again.

I agree with the customer service. I had to call a dozen times before someone got back to me. They are comfortable af in the beginning but after 3 months they start to fail pretty fast. They are not goodyear welted they just have the look, the leather is thinner and i have had a heck of a time with customer service. Granted returns are easy if you need to actually talk to someone it's a manhunt to get someone. And you have to get the new generation or they aren't slip oil and heat resistant

$180+ WORK boots "too good to pass up" 😂 I needed that laugh. Come again when you talk to few "work boot" wearer...most of us dont go above 100 unless the company pays for it. Most company too, will just give you $100. So no, no worker in their right mind will drop $250 on a set of work boots unless you the boss or have a condition that forces you to do so. Middle man? ALL of them are the middle man! They let others produce them, slap their branding and demand 5000% profit margin. There is no way they cost more then $20 to make in a 3rd world country they usually use.
