Great topic Deb! I agree with some of what you said but I have the opposite problem sometimes with some of these as I am petite overall at 5’2” and a size 2-4. I find some if the chain straps to be a bit too long, such as the mini baguette (I will just shorten it a bit) and even the Chanel mini is a tad longer than I’d like. The Chanel woc strap is a no go for me unless I shorten it with a clip on the inside. I can crossbody a Kelly 25, a medium Fendi baguette or a Chanel flap as a slightly higher crossbody, but I do prefer a normal length crossbody as well. And for the speed ph I like the speedy 20 on my frame. But it’s a great crossbody I agree. So I think all the bags you mentioned can be great crossbodies on some and not on others depending on a persons stature and body shape and size. Good thing we can adjust the strap usually or change the chain length of all these.

Definitely agree on the top handle especially in the car ! The new alma bb’s now have an adjustable strap my sister in laws bought one today it was her first in store experience ❤

Great video, thank you. I appreciate the functionality review. It's amazing to me how many bags make it to store fronts without having had design teams actually WEAR a prototype for a while. I mean, it's quite obvious that "trying things out" is not always a production priority for a design house or company.

Thank you Deb, I enjoyed this video. re Dior Saddlebag, I’ve always assumed being left handed that it would feel “backwards” on my shoulder or crossbody. Wonder if this is a thing or not? Would love a mini Alexa but slightly turned off by the large clasps on the shoulder strap as they look heavy.

I actually convert a lot of my favourite bags into crossbody bags by adding my own shoulder straps ,...you just have to make sure there are strong enough hardware hoops on the handles to cope with the weight ! I've even been to a handy shop store who punched holes and put in circular inserts , but bear in mind it could affect the value when you come to sell !! I have always found it odd that the Birkin does not come with a strap option !! I have had top handle bags that that I gave fallen out of love with until I applied a shoulder strap . It''s incredible how such a simple act can transform into something so radically different , and like you said it's great to still have the option of a top handle element ! 🙏😜❤️

Hi Deb! It seems there are two kind of bags. The real crossbody bags which were actually designed purposefully. And the other (historical design) bags to which the crossbody strap was added because it is more in demand in today’s world. But the original design doesn’t seem to have adapted to this way of life… 😅

IMO it’s the Speedy B 30 (because zipper goes down on the sides than the 25) for the win. Works for crossbody, shoulder and crook of the arm. Such a great bag.

Deb, you make a quite tall appearance. I thought you were 5'7". It might be that you wear all black as I mostly do, and that can give the impression of height. I've always thought the Speedy would scratch your hand as you removed it from the bag, due to the top zip. Great video!

Some of these bags were not designed to be cross bodies - they are either hand held bags or shoulder bags. Adding a cross body strap doesn't change them so it is no wonder that they don't work.
