I get that the Grammys didn't used to recognize Pop--- to be fair, they didn't used to recognize anything that was going on in current music. Generally, they would nominate whoever their favorite artists were from when they were young who had recently released an album. What I enjoyed so much about this Grammy's was that it seems like the first show that they really got it right... They nominated people who actually are in the Zeitgeist of music right now, had them actually sing at the show, and not just one kind of music... Multiple kinds of music. You were talking about Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett.. now that's someone we would have seen at the Grammy's before!!! That's someone. The Grammys voters were remembered, that Tony Bennett guy. They know who that is!! Who's that young girl singing with him?? I've really gotten into Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell with my girls. Chappell has an unbelievable voice and is a very - there- Even though she uses a mask to perform through and be herself. Which I think is interesting. But I'm glad that drag is helpful to her. She comes up with the most beautiful and unusual outfits and makeup. Sabrina is funny, and her old-time Hollywood thing is interesting. I don't remember seeing anyone do that before-- definitely not with humor. (Edit- my phone helped me. It didn't make sense.) Also, I've been looking online- trying to figure out when Sabrina started her Hollywood thing. She wasn't doing it at the metball, she wasn't doing it at the Grammy's last year. I think she started doing it with the "Short and sweet" tour, which hasn't been going that long. If so, it makes sense that she appears at awards shows in a style of the era of her current tour. (I can't figure out why you hate her so much but you really seem to, and it was kind of hard listening to you talk about her.) (Edit- add) Also, you're making fun and saying that these songs don't go together... Actually, the videos for "espresso,"" please please please" & "taste" tell a story if you watch them one right after the other. They even play the next song note at the end... As though it's leading into the next. Also, Please please is begging her boyfriend not to embarrass her... Not desperate for a man.

Exactly.They're missing the boat on her and I understand that they're triggered because we all have generational trauma re: Britney, but Sabrina's better than they give her credit for. The vocal coach reaction/analysis subgenre on KZbin will do a better job of explaining than I could. Taylor brought Sabrina out on tour to sing with her at one point and you could tell Taylor had to work to keep up with Sabrina pitchwise.

On the subject on celebrity telethons/fundraisers...thank you! If a celebrity is going to participate in a telethon asking regular people to donate money, then they should be required to give a donation first. It's ridiculous to me that they're up there asking people for money when if they all donated $500,000 to a million dollars, they'd probably have enough to cover whatever the fundraiser is for. And I get that not every famous person is rich (especially singers, as they can be very flash in the pan), but everyone who attended the Grammys should have been able to afford $1,000.

Having worked briefly in the entertainment industry specifically on these types of events, I'm glad they did the award shows because if they were cancelled it has a huge impact on so many businesses and lively hoods, from make-up artists and hair to lighting, sound, security, catering, I could go on. People need to work to help them get back to some normalcy.

The "Like a poem said..." bit of Abracadabra is the tune of part of Spellbound, I'm a big Siouxsie fan so I heard it straight away. But it was so perfectly done it didn't pull me out. Instead it was very "get your big coat and eyeliner we're gonna dance in the goth club". It builds on the original rather than just recycling it.
