True make up is a luxury, but that doesn’t mean accompanied with a scam their consumers. The quality doesn’t match the price and his reasoning that its made in Italy doesn’t make any sense either. If he would just be honest and say hey, I wanna make a huge profit margin instead of trying to excise it then people wouldn’t be so mad. We see it all the time with luxury brands that sell by name not quality but we know we are paying for the branding.

Thank you for the Patrick Ta convo!! He should have said nothing. Plus Robert Welch did a review on these and said they were nothing special. It was Tacky AF for Patrick to hold up a low key 4th grade presentation with a poster board to defend his brand while calling out others. Plus he didn't even have the someone edit his post to reverse the images. We all know the brands he was calling out. If you are real luxury you shouldn't have the need or time for the response. He shouldn't have the need to come off chariot to address no one. That is the meaning of real luxury 😂😂😂😂 He a fool.

So I have the lethal cosmetics ultra metallic eyeshadow in the shade "Alloy" which cost me 10 euros and is made in Germany." Its first ingredient (calcium aluminium borosilicate) is the same as for some of the Patrick's Ta duos. The eyeshadow I own is indeed sparkly but after a day at work, it was gone from my eyes and was all over my face. His second ingredient is mica while lethal cosmetics put mica as a third ingredient. The "I am with her" duo ( the pink and purple) has mica as the first ingredient. The pearl ingredient (calcium aluminium borosilicate) is not as expensive as he thinks it is, he just wanted to charge the price that he did. Much love to you guys, I love this podcast.

The whole “crushed pearl” narrative is so frustrating! About the fallout though; I usually use a glitter primer with sparkly shades. I have the Lethal Nightflower palette and a few of their multichrome singles; Allure and Dahlia are my favorite everyday shimmers! I use Notoriously Morbid Shadowbind as a glitter primer, it feels like a bit of thickened water going on, not sticky at all but it makes the shimmers stay where you put them all day and prevents creasing. I’m pretty sure Fyrrinae Pixie Epoxy is the same formula as well just different brand/packaging.

Exactly Wycon has an eyeshadow near identical called Visionary Its £10.30 and has far better consistency. Both are made in Italy.

@@deathkid68 I use the primer with just about any sparkly or shimmer shadow (usually not for a more satin shade) because it helps so much with preventing sparkle particle fallout but also because it makes the finish much more intense and bright and prevents creasing. Pat McGrath makes one as well in a stick form, but I don’t like it as much as the Indie brand versions because it tends to lift and smear the matte pigment I’ve already put down. That said it does work amazingly well for increasing the impact and intensity of sparkly shades.

This!!! The instant I saw the PT shadow duos come out, I was like these are nothing new or special because Indie shadows are just as good if not better, what the hell is all the fuss about??? If people are going to defend something like this, it should at least be something really special! These are not.

Perfect point about the Urban Decay Moondust shadows. I pay the $20+ for each of them because I love the formula and use them often. I understand that Ta’s formula has high quality, expensive ingredients and he should have explained that instead of handling it with a second grade mind-set. Also, UD and all the others that have been mentioned in comparison, were revolutionary at the time. There was nothing like them when they were released. There is nothing unique about the PT shadows, ESPECIALLY when you compare to what is available on the Indie market now.

I’m in Texas and the way Johnny voted is the way I voted. Usually, when I vote via electronic ballot once I hit submit, it’s cast. But this year, I had to insert a blank sheet of paper, cast my votes, when I was done the paper was sucked in and I guess printed all of my selections then spit back out at me. Then I had to go to another little machine and insert my ballot sheet. This is my 4th time voting and I never needed to do that last step before.

I think the issue is that people feel like Ta is pricing his consumers out while trying to chase luxury status. UD at Ulta at least has sales where you can get them on sale, we'll see what happens with these eyeshadows now.

And he has done nothing to earn that luxury status. Luxury brands are built off decades of branding and sophisticated formulas. He had had major issues with his formulas since the beginning, and his brand hasn't been around long enough to even dip its toes into becoming what luxury is.

The Patrick Ta duos, an alternative would be the Pat McGrath duos she released for the holidays. Those are high shine with opaque colour, and much cheaper. Even they are nowhere near the “special shades” in her large Mothership palettes but the duos are a good value for the price.

I have HUGE pores and tend to have dryer skin, especially around my t-zone and every foundation I buy looks cakey even if I moisturize before applying. Thank you for any guidence you can give. Hmm dryness and pores are a tricky issue. Because foundations best for dry skin tend to settle in pores. I would try the Maybelline Super Stay Skin Tint (has a beautiful glow but doesn’t settle), and the elf camo hydrating concealer and/or the Juvia’s Place concealer! ❤

I think some influencers fail to realize when they gasp in amazement reviewing these Patrick Ta duos.. NO ONE is walking around with a flashlight shining on their eyelid. So… 😂 Also, I just haven’t been that impressed with his products. I do like his major dimensions palettes, but for me, the glitters are a bit chunky and messy and also, the glue has failed on the back of the pans.. I returned his cream foundation… I returned his blush/cream duos.. and I literally have Amazon returns from 5 years ago that are still sitting here so the fact that I hauled myself up there to return..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I have watched a lot of reviews on the duos and I feel like so many others give me the same look.

I have a lot of things to say about Patrick Ta’s brand (and it’s not good). He’s trying to be luxury brand but his ethics, behavior and products are not it. He ghosted customers with “mold” issue in his Major Dimensions II eyeshadow palette (shimmers got moldy within 7 months in mine, for example). He didn’t address the issue at all, he just ignored it. How can I be sure that this duos won’t have mold in 7 months? How can I be sure that he made some changes in the formula and heard his customer’s complaints? I appreciate that you spoke about the inconsistency in his products. You never know what you’re buying. I live in Denmark and we don’t have Patrick Ta’s products in store so I have to buy his stuff online without swatching and feeling the textures. And I can’t return it😅 About the duos: I can understand the pricing (Italy isn’t cheap) but I don’t understand why he released sparkle duos when there’s one sparkle shade. And why the shades in duo so similar? If I’m paying $42, I want two different shades that won’t look similar on the eyes. If he would sell singles with different formulas (sparkle, satin sheen, sophisticated duochrocme or something like that) with different prices, I wouldn’t say a word about the price and the whole release. I constantly have a feeling that he’s trying to deceive me, you know. So I’m not supporting his brand anymore. And thanks for the episode, guys! I own one Patrick Ta blush, so I'm not the best person to give my two cents, but I imagine a lot of the cost of the shadow duos is the packaging. Clearly, this component is custom to his brand. I'm not very tempted by this item, but she'd be pretty sitting on your vanity 😊
