I love NYX born to glow foundation. I wear it everyday. I have normal to oily skin slightly oily skin. And I'm 63 and it looks fabulous on my skin. I also find that it lasts more than 12 hours and still looks good. there are many days when I put my makeup on at 7 in the morning and I don't take it off till like 10 at night. And it still looks pretty good. I love the born to glow foundation. Ab solutely my favorite.

On my dry skin, the NYX Born to Glow was a sad disappointment. It doesn't last beyond 5-6 hours, and it dries out my skin something horrible. It does look absolutely fantastic for those first hours, but the way it eats up my moisture barrier is just not worth it. I've saved the tube, and will gift it to my friend with oily skin at my first opportunity.

Kaysie the Nyx foundation doesn’t work for me either and I have oily skin, it makes my skin look very dry (which it is not) and wears so poorly throughout the day, it’s such a shame though as the shade I have is a perfect match for my skin colour.

I’ve never watched a 30 minute makeup video in my life and this has been the first video I’ve ever had the desire and willpower to sit through. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together. I really love the format of doing multiple products in one review like this. I don’t have time to watch countless videos by different people so jamming all the good content into this one clip has been heaven for me! Your presenting style is so genuine and honest. It helps that you have really pretty makeup in the style I like, being 37 some of the other YT accounts don’t really represent me. Thanks for making me feel seen! 🌷

Sitting here in covid 19 quarantine,unable to go out and check colors or anything else - forced to shop online ! I tried to check every possible recommendation for a new foundation ( my old discontinued - of course. ) , and after watching this, I decided on the Clarins everlasting youth . And after using Clarins for a couple of months now - I am totally in love with it - Thank you so incredible much for your video here . Just as you say - my skin looks air-brushed ! And me being a bit allergic to lots of products ; I have no problems what-so-ever with this ! The Chanel foundation is also exactly as you say ! I bought one of those earlier . It was money thrown out my window. Powdery look, but nothing covered. Even though I accidentally bought a colour too dark for me, it didn`t show. In stead, it looked like I was without make-up, on a very tired day , and it looked like my skin was drying up.
@LLulu1455 жыл бұрын
I also love the Clarins everlasting youth fluid foundation, but I disagree that it's slightly tacky. I wonder if it's how it works with your moisturizer or primer that might be causing it? I find it to feel almost silky, powdery smooth. Thanks for sharing this, I'll be trying the Nyx. It's hard to keep up with the high price of clarins.

OMG I was shocked. The Chanel is my all time favourite foundation. It’s just shows you how different foundation can be on different people. All your negatives about this just does not happen to me at all, and I am 47 years old, normal to combo skin. It also lasts all day on me and looks fantastic. I just apply a smallish amount with my fingers as it advises on the website. I can imagine if I applied it with a brush, and went it with another layer to build up then it may look dry and powdery, but I get great coverage (my skin is good and doesn’t have a lot to cover) and it stays put all day.

I am 58 with oily skin, I tried 4 of your list, the Kevyn Aucoin was the absolute worst for me, hard to blend, patchy ,looked horrible. It was like trying to smear Playdoh on my face. The Studio Skin right down there too, was a greasy mess in no time and oxidized several shades on me, The NYX, not sure why I tried anything with the word Glow in it, never works for me and I was shiny quickly. I really like the Chanel! lightweight, natural coverage and long lasting on me. I am most interested in trying the Shiseido one, passing on the rest. Thanks for the in depth roundup!

I love that when you analyze a foundation that you mention the qualities you assess. I'm in my 60s and I never thought of them nor has anyone else spoken of them,ex it moves. I had oily skin until menopause hit and we thought foundation was for old ladies. I lived in Italy and Lancome made a tinted moisturizer for oily skin that absorbed oil so I liked that and put powder on it. W. I moved to the USA in the 90s but the most I used was a powder from Lancome that was foundation when applied with a sponge and powder during the day with a puff. The idea of not putting powder on never occurred to me. The was a competition in the ladies' room about what compact you had. The rich girls had Chanel. When it closed it sounded like a MercedesBenz door closing. There was the Bobbi Brown/Origins/Prescriptives for the "natural" look. But no powder? Is this new that you don't powder concealer or foundation? Is it due to the new technology in make up? How can concealer not get into creases without powder? I was sick last summer. I couldn't concentrate so I thought KZbin videos wold be a good watch. I love make up and always have. Anyone doing anything sparkling, colored was looked down on. When there was a big "do" I had my make up done professionally. Good make up was expensive and people didn't have a lot of anything. Then I saw Smashbox on QVC and got two shadow trios, two cream liners, mascara, blush and highlighter (new in 2004) lip pencil, lipstick and a gloss four ties a year. Then there was another special - I'd never watched it before - and I signed up so I got eight faces in a year.They taught you how to apply it too!everyone else had sold me ew colors but nothing about application. KZbin is great and your enjoyment and relaxed attitude make make up fun. Your Mum is a darling. I love you look so good and don't have every product imaginable on. It's flattering, not a masque. QUESTION: My skin became dry, in fact very dry. The cosmetician who has known me for twenty years didn't reach for an up-scale moisturizer but the big tub of Ceravé that looks like it's for body. Fine for night. Yes I do need it for day in winter. I'd been using a liquid moisturizer called Hydroshield. You let it set for ten minutes and it's matte, absorbed I. But now I was drier than hat. How do I prep my skin for make up? Should I use the HA from The Ordinary? That would help with dryness. The moisturizer that works for me in this weather is the L'Occitane rich Shea butter moisturizer. So how do people with dry skin prep? I always use an antioxidant under SPF. Then primer. It's a habit b/c the pores diminish ad the make up stays. during b he day. SPF, I don't know if the dry look is skincare or the make up. How can you tell which it is? The Charlotte Tillbury palette looked super on you.

I just got my NYX foundation today and used for first time. I bought online and got the shade you use as I think I’m similar colouring. It looked gorgeous all day. OMG the Chanel is my HG foundation! I have mature (47), oily combo skin and it lasts all day, never breaking up. It actually looks more beautiful as the day goes on. It never sinks into lines. Maybe after 8 hours I blot my t-zone but gawd I always get compliments on my skin with this. I dermaplane my skin at least once a week so I can't speak to the peach fuzz. But yes, I do wish they had more of a color range.

Thank you so much for all your detailed tips. What a pro. I was about to shop for everything to lighten up/minimize my foundation. But I'm stopping myself until I have watched all the videos you recommend. I would like to ask if you think the Nyx Born to glow would be light enough for the summer? Is Clarins less paint like than it used to be? In other words, would you care to do a video on best current summer foundations with regards to skin type, coverage needs and climate? (I love the climate details)! I trust your real life expertise 😌 way more than I care about the counter lady advice and attitude towards my acne scars or my yellow undertone 😀 Thank you very much, you so deserve being on top. ☀

Often they tell me they’ve run out of little containers to put the sample in so I bring my own!! 😆🤣 At some large Boots stores they often let me go around putting samples into my own little pots as freely as I want.. the worst anyone can say is no! Hi Gemma..... Thanks for listing these... I still reach for the CYO while it's available. I guess I will eventually find another "go to" foundation. I like the Loreal 24 hr and I have a Benefit foundation I am fond of currently. I was loving the UrbanDecay for a bit but for some reason it just doesn't sit on my skin the same lately. I am one of the very fortunate to have normal skin (minimal dryness in the winter and minimal oiliness through the hottest months). I love a light/mefium coverage and prefer a slightly radiant finish (I want it to look natural). I am also a face toucher and want a transfer resistant foundation.... Man I want a lot out of a foundation..... Ha ha... I can normally get 2-3 things I want but have never found one that hits all. .... I always love how thorough your reviews are !!!!!!

I got the NYX Born to Glow foundation today. You are right...looks amazing. Smooth and full coverage. I find the shades a bit too yellow but I can work with it. Also a HINT for those with dry skin. Since Gamma gave us a heads up that this might not be the best for dry skin, I put IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Foundation under it first,as it's just a tinted moisturizer to give more hydration along with my regular moisturizer. I often use the BBF or the IT CC Cream under foundations as they are marvelous for just that and to start building coverage. By themselves they don't have long wear but used to help a matte foundation have more moisture then it pairs beautifully.

Well, I have been trying endless foundations over the past few weeks as my 47 year old skin has changed and I have to say I am currently favouring the Clarins. Tried the Born to Glow, but it didn't like my normal to dry skin. I have been trying them all every which way. With primer, no primer, moisturiser, clean skin, and also with foundation brushes or a sponge. Thoroughly tested!! Have found that it's surprising how different applications affect the same foundation. A tip for anyone trying a new foundation would be to try it several times and also get a sample to take home. I buy small pots from Superdrug and dispense into them in store. Thanks Gemma for all your tips! I now have more confidence in buying new make up and I have had to buy new storage for my bathroom to hold all the new make up goodies!!xxx

Hi Gemma was wondering if at sometime you’d be able to do a review on more affordable drug store foundations, some of them seem to be getting rave reviews and are being compared to Estée Lauder ie W7 foundations, also the Primark range has got good reports and Mua

Ooh yes the MUA foundation is beautiful

Oh what is the MUA one. I tried MUA blushes which are like the glossier cloud paints for £2.50 they were amazing . Budget beauty is upping its game.

Pampered Wolf Thanks Gemma I’m just really interested to see if the more affordable foundations are worth buying, as I said some ie W7 have been given excellent reviews and are very reasonably priced! xx

Have been looking forward to this video 😀 Just started watching it, but I had to jump down and compliment your eyeshadow and your jealously perfect eyelid/eye socket 😍 But I thought the smashbox would get higher up on the list, since you liked it in your review and the only unavoidable negatives was how matt it is (on me it is actually dewy) and the amount of coverage 😊
@PamperedWolf5 жыл бұрын
It came down to personal opinion on that one, and the fact that I find it unflattering on a more mature skin xxx

I can’t find the NYX foundation here in Massachusetts or on amazon or the ulta website😒. Your skin is beautiful and I love your eye look in this v. Would you do a tutorial on the UD Honey pallet? I tried golds and yellows today, very unsuccessfully though.

I am currently using the Urban Decay Stay Naked foundation. I got it because of your review. I love it! It is a little pricey so I will try the NYX when and if it becomes available in the states. Love your eye look in this vid! Is this the Urban Decay Honey palette? You will have to do a video on which shades you used. So pretty Gemma!

Funny that you mentioned the contact lenses because I was going to tell you how beautiful & wide your eyes looked today and the eye makeup color was gorgeous with the eye color. I’m in the US & still waiting for Walgreens to get the BORN TO GLOW. I’ll have to check Ulta but they are usually more expensive. I have heard it may be a dupe for the new Anastasia. Hum?? Cheers!!!

Carmen Wickizer Walmart, believe it or not sells Born to Glow. Free delivery with a minimum order. Since they sell everything that wasn’t a problem

Hi Gemma .. I have been on the look out for the NYX born to glow foundation for the last 3 weeks. I have been to Meadowhall ( and in Sheffield town center) several times wanting to buy it . Porcelain must be a popular shade as it was never in stock - finally got lucky today and managed to buy the last one in Boots today 🎉. I can’t wait to test it tomorrow . On a side note - have you ever tried any of the Kiko Milano make up? They used to have a shop in Meadowhall but looks like it’s closed but they do sell online too. Would be interested in hearing what you think ?( if you were interested in trying any of the products out). Thanks for the review video 😊

Your eyes look stunning! How do you like the Urban Decay Honey Palate? Do you think the palette is limiting by having one color scheme?
@PamperedWolf5 жыл бұрын
Not at all. I love it totally. I thought it might be limited when I first got it, but I've created some really different looks from the palette. xxx

I am normal to dry skin but I loved the Nyx born to glow foundation. I used it on its own or mixed with other foundation- it works just the same, luminous and very beautiful on the skin. I love it!
@Donna-cc1kt5 жыл бұрын
Antonette Dorado that may be an excellent idea! Thank you! I’m gonna try mixing with other foundations, not because it’s not enough but because I have several foundations that just don’t quite cut it. Worth a try & could save money.

Thank you Gemma for the brilliant reviews on so many new foundation releases. I am always looking for a 'holy grail' foundation and your top 3 are now ones I'm going to look for and trial, particually the Clarins as with combination mature skin I have high hope of this. Many thanks to your mum as well as her input is invaluable xx

i just discovered your channel and i’ve been binging. but first i had to show my sister and husband my long lost british twin. i’m shook. anyways. i was watching the anna edit the other day and she was saying that she heard to spray your face before applying the new rms because it’s so thick it blends better that way. well i have the kevyn aucoin balm and hadn’t quite figured out the perfect way to use it for my skin which is dry/mature 😩 so i sprayed with my too faced 3 in 1 hangover spray and blended the foundation balm over with my face damp. 🙌🏻💃🏼💁🏼♀️ PERFECTION!!

Gemma. Love your foundation reviews and glad that you either include your Mum or at least mention her. Would like to purchase the Clarins as l like their products. Also you had mention that the NYX May cause breakouts ( NYX foundation review). Would you say that the Clarins on-line sample choices are a pretty close match? Could also also do reviews on affordable cream products for older skin ...eye sticks, blushes. Thanks.

I would advise getting colour matched xxx

I have dry mature skin and the Kevin Aucoin balm is this years best for me. After I used my essence and serums, I prep my skin as they suggest. I used CT magic cream, Tatcha's oil, Tatcha's primer and Tatcha's sun block. I only buff a light application on and set it with La Prairie's new loose powder. It stayed all day and felt like skin. It evened out my complexion. I love how easy it is to buff in.
