UPDATE: I've been providing feedback to TB regarding concerns. Rear button mapping to both L3/R3 thumb sticks is coming in a firmware update soon!! I know this is a massive concern for you many (rightly so), so I wanted to give you all an update. My apologies for not discussing this in my review. I'm getting more info regarding polling rate and OC support as well and will update this comment. My other feedback for the thumb stick options and on board custom EQ is also being looked into. I woke up really sick this morning but I'll do my best to respond/update!

Wireless polling seems to be 250hz when I was testing. Didn’t get a chance to see if it would over clock wireless/wired. I’ll have to try it tonight

Could you also raise the question about the ability to rebind more then just the back buttons such as the thumb sticks itself? Binding the back buttons to thumbsticks is great for many but useless if you can't rebind the thumbsticks to something else or turn them off. I find it odd this is something only some companies have offered . The elite kinda has this issue. But it offers keyboard binds which is GIANT for CoD as you can bind both controller and keyboard binds to take advantage of certain binds otherwise wouldn't be possible (dive only, slide only, emergency ping etc), a shame Elite only does this for the paddles and not the face buttons etc. Great review!

To me the best controller I’ve ever used is the razor wolverine tournament edition. Feels comfortable holding it, it’s slightly bigger than a regular Xbox controller, and the 2 added bumper buttons come in handy when playing bf or cod. I don’t ever need to worry about charging a battery cause it’s wired. And I don’t need to ever take my thumbs off the thumbsticks to press the D-pad to switch to whatever I need. Just use my index fingers to switch to a rocket or grenade etc.

I'm on my 3rd elite v2 as well - all three of them have failing RB buttons right out of the box and two have stick drift

Fixed my RB 2 nights ago using a KZbin video, also tackled cleaning the potentiometer on the left stick. It's actually surprisingly easy to do, don't be intimidated. Just be sure to have 91% alcohol Qtips, tweezers and a #4 security torx, a regular torx will do but it will shave the security post away which will only matter if it's still under warranty. Have my replacement Stealth Ultra in shipment, 1st one right trigger snapped and collapsed. They told me to get rid of the broken one but I'm considering buying a cheap TB for its trigger instead😉

Okay, so i get this controller about 5 days ago and i tested it hard in The Finals / Forza Motorsport/ Cyberpunk. First of all i must agree that controller is really light but the bouild quality is top noch. The buttons are fantastic- clicky but not in a weird way like Scuf controllers. Trigger stops are great and overall ergonomic is a big thing there. However, the thing that makes me put this controller over Elite Series2 is the ability to set the deadzone of the stick to 0 without any problems such as stick drift. Anything you want to do in any type of game , this controller will do best. It is precise as hell. Even if you think about accesories like Kontrol Freaks- it fits fine (the stick is maybe about milimeter smaller than a standard controller, but there is no movement than may cost lack of stability). Overall this controller set a new standard in terms of competitive gaming. I love it I do have a glitch one time, that controller just turned off for some reason but after update (must be done by PC, smarphone app or Xbox need some work there), everything works fine. Battery life is about 10-12 h with RGB and Bluetooth on.

I received this controller yesterday. Ordered from turtle beach. Feels good in my limited testing. For my hands I prefer this button layout and position over the scuf envision. Software definitely needs to be updated. My triggers didn’t work out of the box. I had to factory reset the controller twice with the little pin hole in the back. After that I haven’t had any weird hardware bugs.

I've been using Razer xbox controllers for years and i totally agree about the micro switches on the buttons. So much better feeling to press. Hopefully the next elite controller has them and hall effect sticks. Would be a huge upgrade.

I thought the Stealth Wireless headset was really good on console, and that surprised me a lot coming from Turtle Beach since, in my mind, they've always been the budget option with cheap plastics and not great, but passable audio. I tried that headset though last year and was thoroughly impressed. I had my issues with it here and there, but there are incredibly few headsets for gaming that I'll say justify a $~300 pricetag. It looks like this controller also aims to impress and given your review; I think it just might. I really hope people can look past their perceptions of Turtle Beach (if they think about them like I used to) and give this controller a chance. I've seen a lot of vitriol on forums bashing this thing before it's even out and in the general population's hands and it's sad to see. It really looks like they're doing the right things for players to make competitive peripherals in the premium space.

i’ve used the elite 2 to the point it’s wearing out and will still have misinputs due to the design of the paddles. not only that but the RB, just like any xbox brand controller, is occasionally prone to release early or on press of it. same thing with the left trigger ADS, it will just stop registering the holding input

Hall Effect, so they waited for Sega's Patent to run out on Hall Effect Controller tech (Dreamcast controller had Hall Effect). Never had a problem with that awesome controller, no stick drift 1999 ancient tech now.

Elite controllers wear out fast for me. Im a bumper jumper and the left bumper wears out for me quickly. I do need a longer set of sticks, my right stick is higher than my left like you do. But i need better Bumpers. Can't wait for v2 of this controller, will stick with elite 2mfor now.

i had to return it because when i walked forward/backward it changed the volume on my razer blackshark v2 pro. i have a couple of 2.4ghz dongles for Xbox controllers, Headsets, Mouse, etc.. it was super weird. L2, R2, have too much travel and do not have tactile feedback. You smush it because you dont know if it was hit or not, only to realize it is a microswitch that needs no travel at all, but you wont hear them with closed headphones on. Also had connection issues, the transmitter station sucks. it is very hard to get the USB dongle out of it. Last but not least i did not like any of the thumb caps/domes.

man, i've had the elite series 1 since early 2018 & not once did i have any issues with stick drift, nor did i have any issues in my stock controls from 2016 either. Ironically, in august i purchased a PS5 & 50 days later my duel sense got stick drift, safe to say i'm back on Series X with my new Series 2. Great video, aside from a few things where you seemed very bias on some things, & seeemed to knit picks, this was a great review!

I had this controller and after 3 months I got stick drift and not the slow kind that the elites start with, this was extreme and random directional changes..I could be aiming or running and then out of no where I would spin around. As good as the controller is this was a massive issue. I'm not sure if it's software or hardware related but it was really frustrating.

A tip that made me not get stick drift is puting a towel over your controller or getting a case, it really helped prevent stick drift and dust👍

My left bumper on my elite 2 started missing clicks and then eventually got so bad that it rarely registered. A couple drops of 91% ISO alcohol right down into the bumper buttons and then pressing it 30 or so times real fast. Make sure the controller is OFF when you do this and give it 20 mins or so [depending on temp and air movement, i put mine in front of my fan or heater if i really need to get back in the game lol] for the alcohol to evaporate before turning it back on. Longer if using lower percentage ISO alcohol although i wouldn't recommend using any under 91%. Although this is all sort of irrelevant in a way due to this video and other controllers out there i just figured maybe i could help someone who can't afford a new controller right away. Same method works for the analog sticks if they're drifting.... Atleast for a few months or weeks. Anyways, i just built my first PC so I'm trying to get used to M&K lol but this controller and the new scuf PC only controller both seem pretty cool. Maybe scuf got their shit together finally? Lol ....... Nah prolly not😏

Thank you for the in-depth review. I found this controller in my local e-shop and was wondering if the advertised "antidrift thumbsticks" were equipped with Hall sensors. I am a PC gamer that uses mostly keyboard and mouse, but for the life of me I cannot play racing games without a controller. Plus nowadays many other games are recommended with controller too. My old (Logitech) controller broke long ago(right stick is completely busted), and I was looking for a replacement that would last a long time, but I saw many bad reviews on the Xbox Elite controllers, so I decided to wait. This might be finally something worth spending money on.

have you still been using this controller? any updates? i need a new PC controller, my Elitev2 is falling apart. i see mainly negative "actual" reviews from customers about this controller. have you gotten the "Grinding" on the left stick many people have stated. also battery is awful? disconnection dropping out? I spent like 20 mins on google trying to find tech specs about this controller and i can not find any. what Gen is the Hall Effects? i have seen that if its not JH16? they are old gen and awful etc. (im sure id turn off the led's and screen if possible to help battery)

Stick drift is not gone with hall effect joysticks the sensors bend back from the magnets over time and it literally does the same thing as stick drift

The back button layout on the TB controller isn’t ergonomic at all. That’s the thing with these controllers-they keep improving, but for me, the Elite’s paddle layout remains the best. If you like the TB layout its similar to the APEX Flye Digi Vader 4, which has been to best for me as the input lag is like over clocking a controller even though the back button layout is horrible.

Its wild but i swear the best paddle/button setup i've used is the Strikepack elminator. They are mouse click and also in easy to use spots. Sometimes i debate just going back to having a basic controller with a strikepack

Two questions for someone with smaller hands; How large is it compared to the Elite Series 2? From what I understand the Elite 2 is the same size as the standard Xbone controllers and thus slightly larger than the standard Series X/S controllers. Could the horizontally placed back buttons pose a problem for shorter fingers, in not being able to reach the inner buttons on the back plate? I could see myself having to shift my hand to reach them or risk accidentally pressing the outer ones.

Honestly, would like to see another version of the controller. A lower end "less features" version. I love the look of the controller, and the sticks/buttons like you said. I don't think I would utilize all the other features like the color customization, vibrations, sound control ( I use a usb headset and stand alone mic ), and a lot of the extra features. So it would be great to have a base model, maybe even without the screen, and just have customization similar to the elite 2, but with a better build.

But the main features I was talking about was the magnetic input on the joysticks, the micro-click buttons, bumpers, and triggers. everything on that controller, except all the audio and hii-tech face features. I use usb headsets with a mixamp already, so I don't need all that, or the rgb (which is cool, but not worth the extra cost imo) I play games on my pc with a controller. I am a long time console gamer, recently got a pc lol

Dude! when you said the right bumper is starting to go out, that's the same issue I've had. In fact, I had the same issue with two series 1 controllers, and series 2. I'm on my second series 2 and it's the same right bumper issue.

The mic pre amp on the TB sounds very compressed. Probably helps with noise reduction, but sounds much less natural than the Elite controller.

I’m guessing the controllers game/chat mixer doesn’t work with wireless headsets connected to Xbox and only wired headsets plugged into controller??

Most headsets already have controls built in the headset so no.

I've been reading that this controller has an issue with the thumbstick becoming scratched from the anti-friction ring which leads to grinding. Has that been addressed by TB?

I sold in 2020 my ps4 pro, and 2022 my xbox series S because i could not afford anymore buy controllers after all messed the gaming experience with S.drift, I used to play rainbow six and was impossible to play with stick drift, then apex legends was annoying also recently, I hope this drift problem are solved in this "new era". And looking this small screen been config on controller is totally 2035 vibes, amazing to see! Nice review legend!!!
