As much as everyone talks about Courtney, we should all give recognition to Mike for his evolution as a writer and composer. If you go all tye way back to his days in Fall In Archaea, it’s astounding how far he’s come.

Mike has his identity In this over saturated music style. I hear a riff and know this guy wrote it! He bends and slides in unexpected parts of a riff.

Their mixes are done quite well. It's incredibly rare to find Artists that are able to transcend their talent as a whole(band), and especially into something that "Uniquely" Conveys their works in such a manner that sonically illustrates precisely what they are "hearing" in their head..... ....specifically throughout the entire process when the band is initially creating their songs... ...and then Ultimately into a genuine tone that represents their signature sound. །η διmple Terms..... .......whatever tone or mix that Mike's playing/writing is purposely being accented in that way. 😈🤘😎

She has spoken about how she tries to take steps to "preserve" her cords. She gets rest and limits her speaking on tour when not performing. Her melodic voice is so beautiful I hope she doesn't lose it.

one of my favorite things about courtney is that her harsh vocals, as you called pitch screams, is so unique cause it’s like she’s actually singing but adding false chords. it’s like she’s doing her own layers if that makes any sense. I haven’t heard another female vocalist do this. if there are some out there that do it i’d love to know (people in the comments.) and can we talk about michael’s riffs?? always so thick and chunky. he’s an incredible song writer.

@@chrisliepe Absolutely! My wife is a vocal coach and I'm going to show her your channel since we both like Spiritbox. She sang on Lamb of God's song "King Me" and coached the singer of Tesseract and even sang on his solo album. Can't help bragging about her and I think she'd like your channel too.

@@chrisliepeyes it was funny because I was a huge fan of the band and showed her one of his live sing throughs and she realized he was a vocal coach so she pinged him. He was impressed that she had sang on the Lamb of God album and asked her to sing on his White Moth Black Butterfly project on the song Evelyn at the time. And she was coaching him, and also contributed on one of his podcasts after that. It was pretty wild for me as a fan because we got to meet him at a bunch of shows when they came to the states over the years after that. Seeing them in Boston in Oct!

Does everyone know that she is a huge Beyonce fan? That made everything make sense to me about why she’s so good and so interesting to listen to. She’s like a metal Beyonce expert screamer without the horrible lyrics lol. I freaking love her singing. Hail Mary by Iwrestledabearonce is also Courtney and the more aggressive side of her. I’m crazy about her singing lately wow. I am so excited to listen to this song for the first time after this!

Absolute banger of a track. Loved your analysis of Courtney's vocals! That ending got me feeling the same way too haha. I really love Courtney's lyricism too. I think bands like Spiritbox and Sleep Token are writing some of my favorite lyrics as of late, not just in terms of content and how I connect with them, but also how they're written with such great delivery as a part of the rest of the song.

Your breakdown of her voice is really cool. I don't typically listen to music like this but Spiritbox is amazing. I like the middle section where she goes into more rhythmic, stacatto sound. Which is a departure from her usual silky smooth delivery. She did that in Rotoscope as well, which I really liked even though it was very different from their usual sound. Just a great band all the way around, video was sick too.

Holy cow, dude! Your pitched screams sound amazing around 4:00! Makes me wonder what plays a bigger role in those types of mixed techniques: the false chord engagement, or the fundamental tone underneath. My guess is they need to be well-balanced and in tension with each other to sound as good as Courney's.

I always look into your vocal analysis. And I want to add something regarding her vocals. From what I see she is more of an alto as vocal range she can go to a soprano as well but she stays mostly between those two vocal range. That's why her screams for me sounds like it wasn't her, but more of a bariton man. Which is very interesting and the transition is beautiful. It's like two vocalists into 1, this reminded me of Chester Bennigton's voice due to the fact that at some point when he was recording I think Meteora, a sound engineer said wait you have double voice which is rare and unique.

I think I also just realized something I’m gonna experiment with. I’m getting pure screams down with some pitch still sounds more evilish. But if I try the sing transition to scream she always does then it will make a lot more sense to me. Pick a line and just practice that line I think. Like this one and other songs “Ev ry single TIMMEEEEE” “I held the poweeerrr of a dyingggg suuuunnn” “You say the paaainnn willl never lleaaaveeee meeee” misqouting beauty of suffering.

Seriously, love your breakdown of vocal performances... as a trans woman, with a lot of versatility to my voice (except for having space for that Roy Orbison grrrrrowl- it's just not in my physiology), would love your expertise to bring it out - a lot of us do vocal training to feminize our voice, but I really want to bring out that balance, idc about the gendered-ness of my voice, but elevating that mix of quality - yes please
