My dad got me this when I was about 12, right after I started collecting. He'd use a deck, and I'd use a deck, we both learned the official rules from that awesome DVD, and we would play together all the time. It was SO much fun, and it gave us something to play together. Great times, and VERY nostalgic.

I know that sounds old of me haha, but I'm 32 now and I tried getting back into Yugioh a few years ago and I couldn't wrap my brain around all the new rules, cards that got banned (about half my original deck lol) and all the changes in monster types. Kids these days seem like they are doing college level algebra playing Yugioh! Back in my day, whoever had Summond Skull was king! 😂😂

I remember how happy I was when I got this back when I was younger, I instantly went towards the Kaiba deck which I've bought so many times, and gave my brother the Yugi deck. Ah childhood memories.

If that's the case then shouldn't they have given the Yugi starter deck all five Exodia cards? No that would break the game as well as bring down the value of those cards and I'm talking about the cards you listed as well as the ones I listed. They wouldn't be rare anymore and it would be easy to get them

I watched the dvd today, very nostalgic. Reminded me of my middle school days 10 years ago, dueling starter decks with my friends. Also I chuckled at the subtle outdated rules in the dvd, like the rules about draws and fusion deck and main deck count.

Remember buying one of these when I was a kid, think it was like £20 or something, and I had never seen it before and there was just one in my local supermarket, I convinced my parents to get it for me and I loved it, I must have watched that DVD over 20 times haha XD

I agree! What the box reads is the true Yu-Gi-Oh! Now it's all bullshit OP cards. You don't even need strategy anymore. You don't have to put your heart and effort into your deck anymore. Today's Yu-Gi-Oh! sucks. It all went down hill since GX.

Those two decks, the Yugi and Kaiba starters, was one of the most epic things that ever happen to me and my brother even though we didn't think these two decks would ever be legendary. When we just started into the Anime and became interested in the card game, my brother and I went to Walmart one time and I bought myself a Kaiba starter while my brother got the Yugi starter. Good old nostalgia days. =)

when i was a child, there was a kids show here in germany that made a competition about winning a starter deck by telling how you would force Yugi to a duell, i just wrote the story down of the episode that was on that day, were the american guy who was possesed by marik took his millenium puzzle and ran off with it , and won the starter deck Kaiba ^^ i was so excited and couldnt get off playing yugioh at school :P good old days xD

I remember when I first got these two decks. They were such a great part of my childhood and I am sad to say I do not have them anymore. When I moved from my old house my mom wanted me to get rid of them because I was getting to old for them. I ended up having to throw all of my yugioh and pokemon cards away. I know they are just cards, but looking back on it I wish I still had them. There was something about them that made my childhood so much better.

Hmm... I remember years ago when I started playing Yu-Gi-Oh! and I got the Yugi starter deck and the one you opened in this video has more cards that the one I got. Mine was pretty much the same as this one except it didn't have Mammoth Graveyard, Two-Pronged Attack, Neo the Magic Swordsman, Beaver Warrior or Man-Eating Treasure Chest.

Yes, there is a card type deck that only one person on earth has. It plays around a field card known as "Dark World of Norris" and uses other Norris type cards. You can guess who owns it....

old school yugioh basically has the same set up, beat down decks. that was the only way, beat down with raigeki and harpers feather duster. synros and xyz cards opened the game to many more strategic routes one can take.

Hehe! I remember those days! Back when there was no such thing as Synchro Monsters, or XYZ Monsters.. hell we didn't even know of HERO monsters! Those were the days! But honestly, I think for the Yugi starter deck, Change of Heart should have been one of the Super Rares. Considering Change of Heart was Yugi's favorite spell card! Also, Yugi never used Soul Exchange, that was always Kaiba's card.

Honestly, yes. Most decks today, particularly the more popular, revolve completely around Xyz monsters (and to a lesser extent, Synchros) and finding ways to summon them. The game's still good but it's not just as fun anymore, and I'm finding it really hard to get into it because it takes too much cash to build a viable deck...

Dark Magician/Black Magician (whatever you prefer) 2500atk/2100def Blue-Eyes White Dragon 3000atk/2500def Find 2 other non-effect monsters that have those stats. (Stats disregarding level) I still consider both to be great cards. I run both a spellcaster deck and a dragon deck. I've used numerous different types of decks. Even the most recent. The older one's seem to always work better as my main cards. (Though, I do have a couple synchro's in my dragon deck) lern2yugioh

there were no sacrifice rules in the first season i believe. i remember watching first couple episodes, kaiba summoned blue eyes no sacrifices and yugi summoned dark magician

no, they didn't really think about 1st ed and stuff back then. They actually mixed spells and magic randomly as they liked, later when they made actual rules in the game, they left it with spell.
