I carry a slip joint due to the laws here in the UK. It's cheap and cheerful, has 2 blades... One of which I use for boxes, packaging, etc and then the other for food... Mainly slicing apples. I've had it for years and it's with me every day. All the best my friend. 👍🏻

I EDC a slipjoint everywhere except the shop where I need a tough folder. I use it for packages, food prep, anything. I prefer it for EDC because slowing down to open the knife gives me time to appreciate it more, plus it’s a gentleman’s knife that will never get negative looks in public.

Yes, I carry a slip joint. I carry a Victorinox Rambler. The knife blade is there as a back up emergency blade (if have one you have none), but I use it primarily for the standard and philips screwdrivers, scissors, nail file, and tweezers. Plus it is really small and doesn't add a lot of weight or room. My EDC main knife will be a Civivi Elementum, which should be here tomorrow (replacing my Chris Reeves Sebenza 31 small).

I do carry a slippy, it’s a Case Barlow in deep canyon jigged bone. I only carry it to church, weddings or “formal” events when a pocket clip wouldn’t really fit in. The last thing I used it for was to cut some chocolate pie. Usually it’s opening snacks for my toddler, packages or mail.

The first knife I ever owned was a gift from my father and was a slip joint long before I was truly into EDC. Over the years my father has given me almost all the pieces to a whole carry so I'm thinking of compiling a personal EDC of just gear from my Pop which so far consists of : money clip, slip joint, watch (several rotating because I was a watch kids long before anything else), and a necklace of the family crest.

I do carry a slip joint. I keep a SAK Rambler on my key fob as a secondary knife. I use the knife occasionally when I forget a knife or in shorts that can’t accommodate a full knife. Also the Phillips head screwdriver helps with tightening up glasses

I carry a slip joint every day as a secondary blade. Either one from my great uncle or a Barlow from my great grandfather. I use my slipjoint for more precision tasks, such as cutting leather or opening boxes with the smaller blade on my Barlow so I don't damage whatever is in the package.
@Oddy914 жыл бұрын

I’ve been carrying a slip joint as a primary knife during the week for a few months. I think slipjoints encourage you to be more mindful using the knife - you can’t just one-hand-kapow them out of your pocket, and taking the time to open them reminds my brain I’ve got something sharp in hand. I usually carry in a pocket slip from Popov with an elastic loop for my space pen. On weekends I’ll switch it up and carry one of my Spydies. I don’t usually use my carry knife for food prep, but now I guess I gotta start that because of this channel :). I don’t have a GEC because I have no patience and I’m picky about the pattern I want, but I just got my second Lionsteel today. Can’t recommend them enough, they’re just gorgeous little pieces of functional art.
@JustGorilla4 жыл бұрын
I carry a multitude of slip joints daily. I use Alox Cadets as backups (multiple colors), but I also have a bunch of slips that I carry as my primary- Proper with copper flytanium scales, lionsteel dom (blue titanium bolster and brown micarta), lionsteel thrill in red, carbon fiber Real Steel Luna, twosun with titanium and copper scales (can’t remember the model number). As much as I like the feel of a smooth flipper, there is nothing like the tactile sensation of the walk and talk of a slip joint.
@justinbenoit48684 жыл бұрын

I do carry a slip joint about 50% of the time always the GEC bullnose. It is usually the secondary knife to something like Benchmade superfreek. The slipjoint just doesn't scare the people I work with. I carry the slip joint either in my back pocket or cargo pocket depending on pants. It also has a extra long lanyard on it to easily pull it out of my pocket. By the way it is not dedicated to food prep, but it is an awesome food prep knife. (It gets cleaned up often due to it being 1095 so I feel the best about using it).
@J-Exped4 жыл бұрын
Slipjoint / FoodPrep - I carry the Benchmade Proper with Micarta Scales, mainly because I love the rustic appearance plus being UK legal. Also Growing up as a kid I spent a lot of time with my granddad. We’d have days at the lake fishing. I always remember watching him eat an apple with his knife. To this day I’ve always done the same.
@spaceberserker4 жыл бұрын
I carry a slipjoint almost everyday, usually a benchmade proper or lionsteel bestman. It’s always my secondary knife thats is carried in my proper slip. I typically use it for any cutting that is not hard use. Opening envelopes, packages etc...haven’t used them for food prep yet. Most days my slipjoint is all I need.
@brockpryor20874 жыл бұрын
I Cary a proper in my edc bag daily. Sometimes it’s in my pocket on the weekend when I’m not at work. I love the look of it and love to show it off. I’ll cut an apple or something with it every now and again, I always use it to cut steak at restaurants love getting looks from people while using it.

I carry 2 different slip joints every day in a hitch and timber card caddy xl. One is the Benchmade proper with a sheepsfoot blade and the other is an Otter-Messer anchor knife also with a sheepsfoot blade. Both of my slip joints are sharpened to a mirror edge and are used for food and cigars, I rarely carry a cigar cutter for random trips and just use my clean slip joint to cut the cap, I don't like using the dull garbage knives that restaurants use so I also use mine for food.

Living in the UK I carry a lot of slip joints because that’s what’s legal. There are many amazing options that have a pocket clip and some have finger choils that keep the blade from closing on your fingers. Now for slip joints without pocket clips there are leather slips with clip or magnets that you can use that make it just as simple to carry as a knife with a pocket clip. Check out the clipslip or the lastest magnet sheath that MKM sells.

When I do carry a slip joint it’s usually my benchmade propper and it’s my primary edc blade. I know I’m late but... (1) Yes, i frequently carry slip joints, (2) I use it for every EDC task from food prep, to open packages, etc. and (3) it’s a mix. On (3), sometimes I pair a one with a modern folder or fixed blade and reserved the slip joint for more delicate / sanitary task. Hello there Taylor. Im from germany and due to local knive-laws carrying a slipjoint is one of the most sensible options. You are allowed to carry fixed blades on you but folks around here are not used to people pulling out knives in public so having a secondary slipjoint for tasks that dont require a fixed blade or locking folder, might be a good idea. I do allways carry a crkt minimalist for tougher tasks but those are rare for me. All that beeing said, i do hate slipjoints compared to any other option.
