The young man helping the old person on a house is a real hero. It's a pity that we just watch and enjoy these videos. Surely they should be a way to help these people. Send him to learn first aid or something. Give him more than a horse for him to continue his kindness. The world needs more people like him.

Tell South African politicians also to construct roads in South Africa's rural areas coz they are also terrible even than these roads of Lesotho you see here. I have travelled South Africa both in urban places and rural places where places are terrible. It seems you haven't travelled your own country and that's why you can easily judge situations of other countries leaving out bad situation in your own country.

Thank you very much for sharing this documentary about life in Lesotho's mountains. I was actually looking more info about Lesotho due to its alarming high rates of suicide reported, but I couldn't find any medical or sociological article regarding that issue so I started looking here for documentaries. It was really nice to see how the Besotho people featured here are hard working yet keep their high spirits and smile, they help each other in the community and are socially aware. Those roads, damn, they're really a danger on itself. I'm starting to think that those high suicide rates may be inflated due to corrupted government. I know the life there is not easy, I just saw it, probably there are worst places with high delinquency, but I'm glad I've watched this documentary and wish the best for everyone featured. I myself struggle with depression and mental health issues, so I don't stigmatize suicide.
@LosInmortalesGallos2 жыл бұрын
This is a great story of resilience and survival. It's a shame that the government can't just invest a little in fixing those roads. Even without paving those roads, just sending a few tractors to widen the road and make them a bit less rocky would help make the trips less dangerous. It's a real shame. Many of our countries' government only think of themselves and do nothing for the most needy of their citizens. Long life to these brave people.

Why are suicide rates in Lesotho so high? Is 87.5 per 100k inhabitants in 2019 accurate? I haven't been able to find any source that explains such higher rate. I know Lesotho had struggled with droughts and unfortunately is one of the countries with higher rates of HIV/AIDS in the world, also it seems it's the country with higher rates of reported rapes (91.6 per 100k back in 2008) and one with severe ingrained violence against women, so it doesn't surprise me that it has such high actual suicide rates for women (34,6 per 100k) but I don't understand the incredible high rate for men (146.9 per 100k), specially if it's predominantly a Christian country. I think something is wrong with the data. Hopefully you can help me to understand. If we can understand, we can help.

Watching these documentaries, you conclude that no country is poor and we all need each other for resources. Lesotho has water/ diamonds
@froogsleegs Жыл бұрын
The gap in culture and living standards between the West and most rural parts of the world gets bigger all the time, partly because we enabled our own growth by overusing resources and cheap labour from elsewhere. in a globalised world there is meant to be a delicate balancing act so that everyone can share what they have and get what they need at a fair price. yet things just don't work like that in reality. Don't think we should say that the West's idea of success is perfect, maybe it's not what we should all strive for. Somewhere there should be a line between these two lifestyles where one can live comfortably enough.
@brinjoness3386 Жыл бұрын
@@froogsleegsLesotho suffers from many issues. But every one of those problems can be solved. We don't need catholic priests in charge of our medical facilities, we do need help with modern technology. We don't need global mining giants staking claims the size of Australia. We need fair pay for our migrant workers, agriculture products, electricity and water. We don't need a euro, yankee, russian, Chinese.... company building a highway from Maseru to the sani pass. We do need to call out corruption, ways to improve and inform the world how cool Lesotho is. Freezing if you go in winter, but who cares if you are skiing. ♥️🇱🇸

It is sad how some people tell lies about our countries! Lesotho is not a forgotten kingdom..it is a very beautiful country passionately called The Kingdom in the Sky. The two ladies are not at all the true reflection of what is happening in the rural areas concerning transportation. Nobody drives a minibus and take long distances to places they dont even know, in search of passengers..THIS GUY IS A LIAR! This is a cooked journalism/narration! It is true our terrain is very hectic in the rural mountaneous areas, but the story is so much exaggerating! In 5years all the liars will have no story to tell. This country is an African Paradise!! If it's a paradise, what's with that 87,5 per 100k suicide rate in 2019? I'm trying to understand and I can't find info anywhere. My country is located in a beautiful landscape, beautiful! But to live here if you're not rich is a living hell, yet your suicide rate is just 8 per 100k, I think is mainly due to lack of access to effective methods and the stigma that suicide carries on Christian societies, otherwise our rate would be higher, but Lesotho is also mainly Christian so please help me understand why such high rates, or is there something wrong there.
