Starting in 2019 (Season 12) Beste Zangers became much more well known here on KZbin in the U.S. and indeed around the world, thanks to the participation of singer Floor Jansen, current lead singer of the popular Finnish band Nightwish. It is a really wonderful show that thankfully is not a competition. (Tissues are required.) It got me into Dutch language and culture and yes, led me to your awesome channel! :) P.S. The Marcel Fisser Band backing everyone up is fantastic.

Beste Zangers really grows on you. Each episode you (and the performers themselves) get to know all the singers a little better. After I've watched the whole show, I realised that Stef Bos hardly ever sings. He speaks lyrics. It's off beat if you think of it as a rap, but he actually performs the lyrics and never loses track of the song. Quite impressive if you ask me. As for Diggy Dex, I think it suits his personality to perform with his eyes closed. He makes every song super personal and i think he's scared he'll just burst into tears xD

2:33 fun fact: Sanne (Miss Montreal) actually has quite a stutter when she's talking, especially when she's nervous or excited. She has a really fun and casual way of dealing with it, often turning it into a joke when she really gets stuck on a word, but the words "ik kan alleen zingen" (all I can do is sing) seem to connect even better with her because of that since her stutter is never there when she sings. This might just be my own opinion though.

Last friday i was at the concert from Stef Bos, front row, and spoke him afterwords. He is sooo cool! And what i didnt knew is that he have known my dad, who worked in the "Amsterdamse haven", and my dad came from Friesland. He was born on a Tjalk. (Passed away in 2004) So thankfull for Stef Bos his concert. Also made 2 pictures with him together.

@joseffatrip, the "ik hou van mij" song is from a dutch comic, harrie jekkers, that also made the song "over de muur" (about the Berlin wall) with his band "het klein orkest". His presentation and comedic timing is amazing. A shame David doesn't know Dutch that well, because the difference between dutch comedians and american comedians would make a pretty great video, I'd think.

Dit klinkt een beetje minderwaardig richting Nightwish, want wat zij daar presteert SAMEN met de bandleden heeft al menigeen die niet met hun bekend was met open mond van bewondering achtergelaten. Maar verder heb je gelijk, Niels, Floor is enorm veelzijdig. Dit heeft ze niet alleen in Beste Zangers bewezen maar ook door de prachtige covers die ze tijdens de Coronaperiode thuis in Zweden heeft opgenomen.

I swear to God, this show was forever changed when Floor fucking Jansen took the stage last year (2019). WATCH HER PERFORMANCES, PLEASE. They are SO unimaginably good, her voice is ANGELIC. Also, the point of this show is to take the Netherlands' biggest talents in the singing world and have them get out of their comfort zones for one another (for example, Stef Bos has never performed rap before, so that's why he was off-beat every once in a while, but he did his best since this performance was for Diggie Dix). It's a challenge to the biggest celebs of our country and it really explores them as human beings, really grounding them in our reality, rather than among the stars above. Like when Floor Jansen, a metal goddess, sang a salsa song for Rolff Sanchez (who is really big in Latin America). It's my favorite season of that year so it would be great if you explored that season with your husband :)

I always love it when singers try out a style they are unfamiliar with. Opera singer trying out distortion, a metal goddess trying out salsa, a most respectable attempt by a singer with a stutter trying out rapping (Miss Montreal from this season you watched)... I think it's an incredible show that shows what music is all about; diversity, respect, sensation and emotion. Even those not a natural at a specific style can try and make a decent attempt.

You should watch last years season if you want something to watch. I've seen it 5 times now and really don't care about the other seasons. hahaha. Season 2019 had Henk Poort, Tim Akkerman and Floor Jansen as the 'big stars' you may know. But I fell in love with all of em on that season. I did use a lot of tissues. Wat een tranentrekker.
