BestechMan Ronan Axis Lock Knife : Almost Perfect. This is the second offering from BestechMan the first was the Dundee and I felt it was a really nice knife for the money. This time they take on a whole new locking mechanism. There was so much good here and only one true complaint for me. I can't wait to see what else we see from this more affordable line of knives. What are your thoughts on the Ronan?

It is an awesome knife, was sharp when I got it. I made the mistake of using it on ratchet straps with Kevlar and desert sand in it, and made a butter knife out of it in 3 cuts through the 3" straps. Sharpened back easily though. Buddy told me the straps were a blade killer, and they were.

I finally picked one of these up and really love the shape and feel. My springs are SUPER tight. I’m definitely going to have to make an adjustment.

Recently picked up a Ronan along with a mini Dundee and a Goodboy. Was not wowed with the Ronan at first, thought it was a bit chunky and heavy plus it had a defect on the blade edge. The other two were razor sharp but not the Ronan. After giving it a good resharpening and carrying it for a week my opinion of it went up a bunch. Great blade shape and a capable slicer as you point out . Super slick action and carries just fine. The spring tension on mine was just fine. Great review

I agree with the lock being stiff. After a while though, it seems to get easier. Or the muscles on my index finger and thumb are just getting stronger.

Very nice. Almost bought one last week but heard the cross bar springs were pretty stiff. Ended up buying a CMB predator in 14c28n and micarta.

I have the CMB Predator and find the springs VERY STIFF on this crossbar lock knife. Its not a drop shutty knife.

The Bestech Slasher was the first axis lock that I recall and they also made the Giantmouse Ace Nazca but great review I love my Ronan!

I have this exact knife and I love it. My only complaint is I lost (it fell out!) A pocket clip screw (same one that's missing on yours).

In my experience, most right handed people don’t like left-handed holes in their knives, so I’m fine with this knife. I think companies should make a limited run of left-handed knives just for lefties.

I agree 110% with you man...there's only ONE thing wrong with this knife...The blade needs to be made of S35VN, and the handle of Titanium, milled out to reduce weight....othern that, it's truely a perfect knife for me, and I REALLY REALLY wish they would make a higher-grade, (materials wise), one.....I would INSTANTLY pay a lotta money for one.....OnWard......

It's that thin blade at the pivot that expands like a leaf. The Kershaw is D2 though, and not on bearings. I'm tired of D2, tbh

Honest review. For me this Knife has too tight/stiff axis lock. Its a no fun for fidget knife for me. Sending replacement spring-set with it for tension adjustment would not even need them to raise the price. The other thing is they HAVE pre-drilled screw-holes for the pocket-clip to be ambidextrous already in the liners you can even see it in your video. They just did not do it then, strange.

The Action is FAR away from the drop bear. I got them both and the ronan has pretty bad action.

@@llamokk Rhe blade shape is similar and that locking system clutch lock looks the same to me . I got the Drop bear myself love it . The issue is since Spyderco let the pattern run out e every body and there Chinese brother is duplicating it .

@@llamokk You are 100 % correct Its Benchmade but here its 2:40 am and I'm still up watching knife videos and I got 6 different knifes out I like to get to know my knifes as in open & closing without actually looking at them . Just a heads up that the Kershaw Heist is made in China, so not sure I would base my decision solely on that

@@Matthew-mq2tc Yes, they're made by Chinese OEM's, but that money goes back to Kershaw, so it's still a supportive move either way. I'm not against buying Chinese knives from Chinese makers, either, but that's just my preference.

@@ryansgr8 Yep. Kershaw has been a part of the KAI family for quite a few years. But it still employs people here and their (Kershaw) facilities are in my neck of the woods. Buying their Chinese-made knives still supports those employees. As I previously stated, I don't mind buying Chinese brand knives made in China. It's just that I would rather support USA companies when possible. Is there a clever point you're trying to make with that statement? A Jedi mind-trick, perhaps?
