My God! The Kilian is one of the simplest Compulsory dances and even if I was a single skater, I was able to perform a decent sequence with an ice dancer friend of mine... But those two are so close together and their feet are so tight... They seem from another planet...

@gk8916 жыл бұрын
I've never been a fan of these two but some of their compulsories were absolutely amazing. The Kilian was maybe their strongest one as their crossed open choctaw in this dance was skated to perfection.
@deaconconway52816 жыл бұрын
They definitely deserved 1st place in this dance. Unfortunately it was probably the only time all event they skated like the worthy Olympic Champions and each round further from it than the last, the free dance of course the furthest of all rounds away.
@gk8916 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they never really transferred those skating skills to their OSPs or FDs. Especially their FDs. Some of their OSPs were ok but not great IMO.
@gk8915 жыл бұрын
@@rolandgreen7484 You're probably right. I wonder what these two would've looked like if they had worked with someone different. Because they were probably capable of better
@gk8915 жыл бұрын
@@rolandgreen7484 G&P didn't start working with Tarasova until November 1997. Allegedly, G&P had a fallout with Linichuk after the 1996 Worlds when she supposedly ordered them to leave and go into the professional ranks (as she wanted to lead Krylova & Ovsiannikov to the Olympic gold). So Grishuk & Platov put together The Feeling Begins on their own and they went to a tango specialist in NYC to help them with their OD. Whatever actually happened was the best thing for G&P as it got them away from Linichuk's second-rate work as their material improved a ton.
@gk8915 жыл бұрын
@@rolandgreen7484 My apologies. I did mean November of 1996! G&P's 1993 FD was choreographed by the great Shanti Rushpaul (she also choreographed Klimova & Ponomarenko's FD in 1992 and Anissina & Peizerat's FD in 1998). Dubova didn't have any hand in G&P's 1993 material as Grishuk was kicked out of Dubova's camp after Dubova and her husband found out about the affair between her and Zhulin. There's a juicy story behind that as well that involves a third party! I agree that G&P's best FD under Linichuk was their 1993 FD but I think their best program overall was their 1995 quickstep OD. I would actually rate that program as the best OD in the history of ice dance. Such speed, power, and content while skating almost entirely in waltz hold. But I had once read years ago that Linichuk didn't put that program together which makes a lot of sense!
