I have just concluded that when I start researching what the Romans ate, I will begin with Thailand and then work my way around Asia. From bile to frogs, the Romans ate items that were shown in this video. That is, what did everybody's ancestors eat? Stuffed cow udder was a huge thing in Rome. When I saw the cook pick up the cow's milk sack, the phrase "Roman food" popped into my head. This video can be used as a tutorial for an introduction to ancient food sources.

So, I stumbled upon this channel a few months ago and absolutely fell in love - your humor and your delivery are absolutely flawless and second to none. Although not a competition, and maybe you don't care BUT i also came here say, after watching weins for about a day, imho you're waaaaaaay more entertaining and a far better reviewer. They’re both good IMO. BEFRS has an entire production team and is more like a tv show so it’s typically more entertaining. Mark is usually just with a single camera, often filming himself or his wife is filming. He kept the original travel food vlogger format and stayed simple.

It's more obvious when he visits places like China, for example. We also have entrails in the Philippines in the Visayan region. We ferment fish entrails and we call it "Dayok" in Bisaya. But we clean the intestine of the fish to remove the stuff inside it.

Would love to try the fish entrails soup. Not sure with any bile dish, as "bitter" is not something I am very good with. Bitter gourd, bleah! Frogs and tadpoles look intriguing. I had cow udder before, in a Swiss preparation of smoked, cured udder (tétine fumée / grüükts Utter): it tastes in between cheese and a frankfurter, not bad, apparently very rare, but the butcher close to my home had a lot of interesting stuff (brined, smoked cow tongue is deligtful)

I don't think it is. People don't all have the same sense of taste. I think people who actually enjoy the bile have taste buds that are different. Bile isn't meant to be consumed, normal tongues have taste buds that say "don't eat this." But their taste buds seem to interpret it as sweetly acidic instead of "potential poison" like the rest of us. You're not gonna acquire the taste, you're just gonna keep trying to eat something you don't like.

I love "Fermented Fish Entrails Curry". I eat twice a week with steam Jasmine rice or Khanom Jeen (Thai rice noodle) and don't forget Thai traditional veggies. But Sa-Tor (Pakria) is my most favorite veg.
