If you want more vocals, then you should react to: 1. Into The New World (debut song) 2. Girls Generation (yup the title) 3. The Boys (there's english vers) 4. Mr Mr 5. You Think can't wait. thank youuu❤

OMG welcome to Gee. The legendary SNSD song that started the golden era of 2nd gen kpop and paved the way for 3rd gen kpop.
@Dardove3 жыл бұрын
SNSD is iconic and looked up to by pretty much every girl group around today.. Certainly worth checking out and "Gee" is probably the best place to start with them. If you want to check out their debut, that would be "Into the New World", but it is similar in style to "Gee". It is another important song to K-Pop. Along with it has been covered by a bunch of groups (maybe you have seen Dreamcatcher's version) along with having been used for various protests, especially those involving fighting for women's rights. The last Girl's Generation M/V was "Lil' Touch" by the Oh!GG subunit is made up of all the members that were still with SM at the time (since they consider everyone except for Jessica Jung to still be a member of SNSD even if they left the company). Some videos released after "Gee" that would be a good contrast would be "The Boys" or "Run Devil Run". If you want to look into first-generation you could look at S.E.S. or Fin.K.L. I'm not really familiar with them myself other than knowing Lee Hyori who was in Fin.K.L and was a member of the Refund Sisters, so I can't really recommend any songs from the group. Without looking through all of your videos, I know you have reacted to Hyoyeon (aka Hyo) before with "Second" and "Dessert". And like you said probably Taeyeon since she did have a pretty recent release.

Thank you! It's funny, I only know her from refund sisters at the time, but I listened to a lee hyori album and fell in love with the song black... It was almost our intro song for the channel before we decided to go with G-idle songs. I'll add the songs you suggested to my list, Id love to hear more from GG since I know they are looked up to by so many groups (things like this usually happen for a reason and I want to catch a glimpse of that)

Oh gosh its gee of my fave Girls Generation, the forever iconic group and still the most awarded Girlgroup in kpop until today! Thanks for the reaction, bestfiends! Hope to see more, GG never sticked to one concept, and they wre the standard.

SNSD is the name of the group which translates to So-nyuh Shi-dae in Korean, which in English is literally "Generation of Girls" or Girls Generation, so that's why it's called Girls Generation and also SNSD, you'll hear it called both. Koreans will more likely call it SNSD. They debuted in 2007, defining 2nd Gen K-Pop.
@multik89513 жыл бұрын
If you could maybe you should react to more of their music and watch their change of concepts and all since they were a group that didn't stick to one concept but they've also done alot of concepts. From cute to girl crush to mature concept and their ballads are very good

Gee is such a huge song in kpop history! It would be amazing if you guys continue to react to SNSD, they have a lot of different sides. My favourite song of them is Genie, it's a similar concept to Gee but a little bit more vocal oriented, and of course, it was huge in Korea, too. If you want to see a more mature side of them you can watch: - Mr. Mr. (the MV is really simple but the song is awesome, it's my second favourite song from them) - Hoot - The Boys If you want to see a more "mature" cute side (if that makes any sense), you can watch Lion Heart, the MV is really funny too. Into The New World is their debut song, when it was released it wasn't huge but over the years it became a very important song. There are many more songs to check out but those are my suggestions. Thanks for the reaction, I missed your funny edits!

I think we will for sure check out more by them, I see why they were so popular. I really like the new editing aswell, and down the road I plan on all videos being that way, right now it's a time issue on doing it... But I think in the future I will be able to get ahead and do all like that

Gee is super iconic for girl group stans, Twice (some of the members) and another girl group GFriend did a cover of Gee on an Inkigayo Special, that was a fun live stage if you ever wanna check it out, would be nice to see Twice as a whole do a full cover, they did a mini cover once but it wasn't the whole song sadly. The only members you've reacted to I believe is Hyoyeon or Hyo their dancer/rapper and then Taeyeon their leader and lead vocalst. Gee doesn't heavily show their vocals sadly yes, while the song they released after this Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) shows some good vocals especially from Taeyeon, I feel like as a group they sounded great as a whole with their later releases like The Boys or Mr.Mr etc. 2007-2010ish was more cutesy era with the occasional strong vocals it just depended on the song really. Girls' Generation also has two Korean-American members, Tiffany and Jessica [Jessica is the older sister to Krystal of f(x)] and whenever native english speakers got added into groups their companies would always give them random english lines here and there, especially for the intro part of the song and of course the pronunciation was always correct but it sometimes felt weird and out of place but you get used it. Thanks for checking it out! Gee and Girls' Generation definitely helped paved the way for many girl groups and they achieved so much and while they haven't disbanded, it is difficult to say when they'll have a comeback since only 5 of them are still signed to the company and they are all focusing on their own musical/acting careers. If you ever wanna check out more I highly recommend Tell Me You Wish (Genie) [my fav song and their followup to Gee], Run Devil Run for a 2010s girl crush concept, and then Mr.Mr or You Think if you wanna see more stronger vocals.

I looked up the members, you are correct, so far we have only seen Hyo and Taeyeon, both are impressive. I know and love a few more Taeyeon songs because they have came up on my auto playlist, she seems super talented with super catchy songs. I am more of a fan of where kpop is now as a genre, but I also like to try to take in the history and be able to appreciate now even more... I think it's fun to see growth and evolution music. Thanks again for the information, I truly appreciate it and I know you don't have to take your time to share, but thank you.. I value your knowledge and love learning about the artists

GIRLS' GENERATION(SNSD) is like the textbook for girl groups! The South Korean idol industry has always been oriented towards boy groups. Twice, Blackpink, and Red Velvet may be top female idols now, but they can't win against EXO or BTS. But during SNSD's golden year, SNSD HAD DESTROYED ALL IDOL MEN like Super Junior, Big Bang, TVXQ, 2PM. ALL IDOLS CANNOT WIN AGAINST SNSD. Only SNSD girl groups can win Album of the Year at the Golden Disk Award. They are the first idol group to reach 100 million viewers on KZbin and 100 awards at music shows. They have 30+ Daesang(Grand Prize Awards) and 300+ total awards. Their debut song 'Into the new world' has been used during civil rights, women’s rights and during any kind of protest in South Korea! This is also become an LGBT anthem and is played at Seoul Pride.

Chris and I were talking my about the differences between GGs and BGs, to us it doesn't even seem like they have the same target audience. Guy groups to us seem like they target younger teens while girl groups seem to target a lil older of an audience. Being a guy and generally preferring female vocals I may be bias in this lol... I think guy groups are great and I like a lot of songs from guy groups but I feel like girl groups define the kpop genre a lot more, and have a bigger variety of sounds/styles. I am glad to hear about snsd breaking the mold and changing the game.. it seems like the current generation of girl groups are still benefitting from the roads they paved

I think that the video for Gee does look dated in some ways, but in some ways it doesn’t. In particular, the use of color. Before this, the use of color wasn’t really that noticeable in older videos,there was a more naturalistic style in use. But here, the bright, bold colors really pop, and that’s something you continue to see in videos from later groups like Red Velvet, Twice, Momoland, and even Stayc. So maybe while you can have a more elaborate set or more camera movement, etc, I feel like this concept would still work for groups going for a more “cute” angle.

5:43 Beautiful Hyoyeon (I'm a Hyo bias :) :) ) - Main dancer and later main rapper, initially SNSD hasn't a rap line. Only vocal and dancing. 5:53 Taeyeon - Main vocalist 2:41 Tiffany 2:46 Yoona - Visual 2:49 Jessica (elder sister of f(x)'s Krystal, Kpop legendary Jung sisters. SM force to leave (kicked out) from SNSD in 2014 even she is one of the most popular member. It is more like if I compare it to present, the JYP force to leave one of the most famous TWICE member. A shocking news in 2014. It affected both SNSD and especially f(x)) 2:56 Seohyun 3:36 Yuri 3:39 Sunny 5:33 Sooyoung 7:27 Minho of SHINee (Brother group of f(x). They are the experimental groups of SM Ent.) SNSD debuted in 2007. From 2007-2010 cute concept, then sexy, mature and girl crush concept. Initially, they haven't rap lines in their songs. After 2011, Hyo, Sooyoung, Yoona, Yuri (dancing line) and Tiffany have done the rap parts. I think Amber is the SM's first main rapper.

K-pop didn't NEED rap back then. It was in the later half of 2nd gen that the trend of rap verses came up in every song.

Girls' Generation is known as The Nation's Girl Group. I know Twice was also known as that but the difference is Girls' Generation's Nation's Girl Group title was given by the government itself and not by some articles and fans

React to CL's group 2NE1. They were Girls' Generation's main competition and they started the girl crush/ bad girl concept that many groups today use, including Blackpink. I recommend their debut song Fire and their most well known song I Am The Best. 2NE1, along with Girls' Generation and Wonder Girls were 2nd gen groups and all three had different concepts which were popular, shaped today's groups and helped kpop become internationally popular.

Yep no makeup GG, hard to tell the girls apart until you get to know them which are plenty of MVs to do so! Sunny is the easiest to recognize with her unique vocals and she probably holds the record for most dyed hair which every MV it's different! Taeyeon(leader), Tiffany(vocalist with recent US debut), Seohyun(maknae), Yoona(visual), Yuri(husky voice dancer), Hyoyoen(main dancer), & Sooyoung(is tallest 😉) have had solo debuts since group was together. Jessica left in 2014 (was a main vocalist) to pursue her fashion line and later continued with singing including English songs.

It's a well known fact that when JYP was in the process of creating a 9 member super girl group (Twice), he copied the formula created by SM for their group Girls' Generation (SNSD). To say that nothing stood out for you in Gee (vocals, rapping, visuals, etc) is blasphemous. At that time SNSD had three of the best vocalists (Taeyeon, Jessica and Tiffany), one of the best dancers (Hyoyeon) and 8 members were visuals. Twice doesn't have any vocalist that would be considered one of the best in kpop. They have Momo, who is a very good dancer but not as good as Hyoyeon or 2NE1's Minzy. Momo has said they were better than her and both are her idols. For visuals, only Tzuyu would qualify and maybe Nayeon if you ignore her two large front teeth.

Yep! As a SONE of 12 years and, now, a ONCE there is something to be said about their similar trajectories. Although they are two very different groups in a number of ways, TWICE for sure carries the girl-pop torch. Both groups are unapologetically feminine and are marketed as, cheerful, relateable, and for everyone. Even when SNSD went darker and more Britney-esque (in terms of concepts) their music still basically unified Korea. Their influence is still seen in kpop girl groups today it's actually kind of crazy. Looking forward to seeing you guys check out more of these legends!
