This is the best Big Muff pedal ever made. It can emulate any Muff sound you want, and has a built-in noise gate and lead boost switch which you can dial in any way you want. Will never leave my board.

This pedal sounds like higher mids over Top Boost , I’m thinking getting both ..

This was my favorite until I plugged my guitar into the bass deluxe big muff. Holy hell is it amazing on the guitar. It's basically the original green Russian circuit minus a value on a capacitor or two (easily modifiable). It can't do the expression thing (which I think isn't that good on the dbm anyway) but it has a crossover switch that makes some crazy tones and of course really smashes with detuned guitars and baritones. Highly recommend everyone try it if they haven't already

I've got mine yesterday and... Wooow! It's amazing! So many options, so many different tones in one pedal!

Essential tone control, great noise gate and a killer mid boost. Very nice.

Had one for a few years. Never liked it as much as my geranium big muff pi that i lost in a car robbery... but this video has changed my attitude. I'm off to the jam room, thanks for making this great video.

I run a Seymour Duncan 805 through it, and it sounds fantastic, the 805 tightens up the Muff perfectly.

I just got into pedals recently and saw this at a pawn shop for £60, decided to get it because I recognised the name Electroharmonix. Loving it.

A most effective demonstration. Thank you!

This and the newer Sovtek version are two of the most flexible Muffs made; the Sovtek, which follows the same design lay out , has a sound and gain structure more like the earlier circuits, - the Triangle , Civil War, and Rams Head, - not as saturated and compressed, more note clarity, and a more natural "tube" type distortion. A must have for bassists, I think the Sovtek has more overall range and dosen't peak out as early.

From what I've seen, this regular Deluxe simulates the Ram's Head better than the Sovtek Deluxe. The EHX video even demonstrates the Comfortably Numb solo with this pedal, which Gilmour actually played with the Ram's Head. The website also has settings for Ram's Head simulation. The Sovtek Deluxe is based on the Green Russian Big Muff, which is also very nice but not the same thing.

Kinda wish the more standard muffs such as the green russian came with an attack knob. Sometimes a tone knob just isnt enough.
@asherplatts62532 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I find whenever I am playing live, stepping on my bass big muff pedal instantly drops me out of a live mix no matter how loud it sounds at soundcheck. I took it off my board in favor of a RAT, which has plenty of midrange and upper partials in the gain

It would be cool to see a shoot out between this Muff and the Germanium 4 Muff.

did you know that is what a wah basically is it adjust the frequency of approximately 2khz and 800hz and different wahs vary but this is generally what a wah actually does

Pretty good attempt to really portray the capabilities of the pedal. I also loved the SP riffs thrown in. What better way to show this pedal? :) My only gripe is that the sound quality of the video is so bad that it doesn't do justice to the pedal. I own it and it's explosive, vivid, "electrical" and wild. Amazing pedal. This sounds kinda... dead. Having uploaded some videos myself, I suspect that the KZbin algorithm decided to encode the sound to some kind of lame bitrate that kills all its vividness.

I just got mine about a week ago...so im running a keeley Compressor plus to an ehx soul food that use mostly as a clean boost then into an ehx satisfaction fuzz which i modded by put a .22 into open pad inside then ino the duluxe big muff pi then into a keeley Omni reverb into my Supro 1600 Supreme With usually my Supro Westbury Guitar or my 52 blackguard Tele and into a hardwire chromatic floor tuner to start the pedal chain. But honestly I could get by on just the keely compressor plus, the deluxe muff, and the keeley omni reverb and i would be good.

great review. very useful. why did u stop the channel videos?
@alexsapadin66228 жыл бұрын
Is it just me, or does the tone seem just a little more digital and synthetic than the big muff pi? I like the pedal and the versatility of it, but I feel like a raw ringing quality is almost lost with this. Tell me if you disagree though, I'm looking to get a big muff and if you can dial in the pi sound then I'm sold on this.
@cygnusx18128 жыл бұрын
If you don't touch the "Gate" dial at all then you should still have all that "raw ringing quality" your looking for... It's a built in noise gate so it cleans up the channel of any unwanted fuzz before going out to your amp.
@SinanAkiman6 жыл бұрын
u know what, i completely agree with you.. it does sound a bit more digital than the big muff.. infact i bought this deluxe and a bass big muff pi at the same time, one for my guitar, one for my bass rig… and i ended up switching them .. the bass big muff sounds awesome on my guitar rig.. and i put the deluxe up w my bass.. i know exactly what ur saying, and u r 100 pct correct

Dear Friends ... Please : How can I connect the expression pedal at the same time ? Please is that on video double TRS ?
@Alvolta257 жыл бұрын
I've tried to connect à line 6 expression pedal to mine... does nothing.. what is the expression pedal I need to connect? thanks !
@nicks48026 жыл бұрын
St-Louis Alexandre ill give you a long overdue answer to your question. There are 2 different types of connections for expression. TRS, and another one I can't remember the abbreviation of. Long explanation short, you've got the wrong type of expression pedal. You can grab a cheap universal expression pedal for like $30. Universal expression pedals come with either a switch on them for you to manually change how they function, or they do it automatically. Look online to see what type of connection your Line 6 expression uses, and go out and buy the opposite..... Or just get a universal expression so you won't have to guess or hold onto 2 expression pedals
