"Bestie" - Band-Maid REACTION

These ladies are simply awesome. Band-Maid is one of the few acts that consistently produces 'comfort songs'. Give a listen to "Page", "Smile", or "About Us" - these all amazing songs - bring a box of Kleenex! They are working on a "Bestie" music video; it will release at midnight JST May 1st right after the Band-Maid/Incubus concert. Kanami says that she has worked with the video producer for many years and this is the first time she has requested that he include a specific scene. "Bestie" was co-written with Mike Einziger of Incubus. Incubus and Band-Maid were both playing at Pointfest in St. Louis on Memorial Day weekend last year. Pointfest ran an artists only cafeteria and Mike couldn't find milk, so he asked this girl in a maid uniform if she could find him some milk. It was Miku Kobato, Band-Maid's guitar/vocalist/lyricist, who cheerfully helped him find the milk! Mike then realized that the 'maid' wasn't event staff but a fellow artist, and went to see them perform. He was very impressed by their music. I believe this is Kobato's first lyric entirely in English.

Just had to comment since you are a pastor but these women live and act more like Christ told us to than many professing Christians. I'm largely atheist but they make me believe, a little😊 This song is a hug from them, to each other, to humanity.

Pastor Brent, "Besties" is worthy of a sermon. This beautifully heartfelt song by Band-Maid really reveals what friendship should be. Mohammed Ali once said, "If you do not understand the meaning of friendship, you understand nothing." No truer words were ever spoken! Thank you Mike Einzinger for composing this "gem" and working with Maids to produce and record this song. Miku wrote the lyrics completely in English, hopefully, for an American audience. Her beautiful and heartfelt lyrics are a tribute her bandmate, her "besties". I hope a few rock radio stations in the U.S. play this song. Of course, Kanami's incredible riff solo takes us up to the sky we're looking at. Saiki's and Miku's vocals and harmonization are another level. OMG MISA and Akane' polyrhythmic backing add so much to the song and Band-Maid music in general.

Band-Maid loves their fans as much the fans love Band-Maid. If you loved this song, do yourself a favour and listen to their "Fan Trilogy"..... songs they wrote for us, the fans. Smile, About Us and Memorable ....... with closed captions. You may even get "itchy eyes". Band-maid are not only extremely talented, but also very humble and appreciative .... as these songs display.

I think its beautiful. I also think while id love it to break out for them its very, very hard for any artist not backed by a big U.S. lable to gain wide recognition. I hope Bestie gets them wider notice and its message is beautiful. Imho i honestly think Mike asked Miku to write from her heart and for an artist to put a piece of their heart out is brave, it opens your own inner self to criticism. Some fans will have all kind of reasons why bandmaid should not do collaborations, what matters is that the band feel good about what they create and I think they feel proud of this song. They are good people and imho good hearts cant help but make good things.

I love MISA's playing. Her bass tone is setting a new standard... and Akane's drumming is so distinguishable... and Kanami's solo... ahhhh! The recording and mix is good, too! Miku's lyrics are heartfelt. "I can't look into your eyes." Is Saiki her bestie? But Saiki masterfully delivers her lyrics, as always. BTW - The volume of lyrics and nuanced melodies she's committed to memory over the years is simply mind-blowing! Mikey did good at giving them his direction for the song, and probably helped with the English lyrics -- a good growth for Miku's craft. I don't understand why Kanami said she couldn't have come up with the main riff. Probably just her being super polite, as usual. I like the groove and feel of the song. I was waiting for, "I don't give a f**k" at the end. But maybe with these particular "Bestie" lyrics, that wouldn't be such a good idea. Even though at first listen it felt on par with Start Over It will undoubtedly do what every Band-Maid song does -- grow on you! Got to break through to the mainstream market with a few cuts, right? that what I like mikus lyrics it's kinda poetic .... every big project lyrically speaking Miku take charge the lyrics when it comes to big project

As a song I enjoy this quite a lot, if it gets played on the radio I'll definitely hum along, but as a Band-Maid song, it lacks their flavour, which was expected because it was co-written with Mike Einziger of Incubus. I've listen to it about 10 times but the song just don't stick in my mind like their other mid-tempo songs did. Having said that I'm sure Kanami will get inspiration from working with Mike and make the best use of it in the future and Saiki will add emotional depth to the song like she does at every live show. I know mine is an unpopular opinion. But I think it's great other people loved this song.
