i always thought that if they were to port these games they waould just port one game with no additions but having 7 games in one package with saving wherever you want and crt filter is really nice, i'll have to pick this up later

@BestInSlotGaming Жыл бұрын
Yeah other than a couple minor things, it definitely isn't a cheap cash in
@Manatsujeki Жыл бұрын
Except that they didn't put much effort in these at all. These are simple rom dumps that contain numerous audio and graphical bugs that weren't present in the original releases. The CRT filter is also one of the worst I've seen and isn't accurate to a CRT display whatsoever. There's even removed content such as character portraits no longer appearing when you reach a motion sensor in the SNES version. There are no control menu's or manual scans, so there's zero explanation of game mechanics or button functions, meaning unless you played these games before, you're going in blind. There's also no remapping of buttons. There's no 'bonuses' other than the jukebox to play the games music. This a very...VERY barebones collection.

Wow I am having such strong 90s flashbacks.... But it is really funny how these basically involve Alan running around killing dinosaurs, when that is very much not what Jurassic Park is about. But these feel very, very much like early-mid 90s games in the way they're designed. Never played any of these myself (I didn't get any sort of gaming console until a few years later) but I'm still getting nostalgia just for the way 90s games looked and operated. Being able to save and rewind seems like such a huge benefit.
@alharron2145 Жыл бұрын
CRT filters should be standard in all games from that era: some games really turned it into an art form. I'm a bit disappointed on a personal level that the MS-DOS Jurassic Park (which was essentially a reskin of the SNES version) didn't make it into this collection, this was absolutely my game as a lad since I didn't have a console growing up. Very hopeful we'll see more games in future from a preservation perspective. Pdf manuals, promotional material, concept art, trailers & whatnot would've been great too, but alas.

It's great that these Jurassic Park games have been finally rereleased. Shame they didn't include the Sega CD point and click adventure game. But having save states for the SNES JP games is awesome. Hopefully, they can remaster The Lost World Jurassic Park games too, especially the Greatest Hits version of the PS1 Lost World game. Maybe include the LW arcade game too.

I'd really like to see them do something like this with JPOG and the arcade games too. Imagine all the stuff they could do! It's a far off dream, but imagine if they even restored some of JPOG's lost/abandoned content, could be cool!
@BestInSlotGaming Жыл бұрын
A fully restored JPOG would basically be a dream come true, though mods do go a long way to fixing that
@Kaiodenic Жыл бұрын
I think the issue is that, as a full 3D game in C++, JPOG is both one that'd have to be done from scratch to remaster it if the original team's source code isn't involved, and it'd take a full game dev cycle to recreate

I'm happy to see this collection exist, I grew up with the mega drive JP game. However I'm a little let down at the lack of extras, even scans of the box art and instructions aren't here. Interviews with devs? Trivia? A timeline/history? It just doesn't do it justice and that era of licenced games is really interesting to dive into. Especially for the steep price (40 bucks in Australia), which I know would be due to the IP costs, but it's made me hold off for a sale instead of an excited day one buy.

I thought $30 for a pack of seven retro nostalgic games was pretty reasonable considering that it sometimes costs me around that much or more for one physical cartridge copy for my collection shelf. As for the quantity, and I'm really sorry to be that guy but someone has to tread this fragile ground, it should have been at least nine games, not seven. The titles that are included are great and can make for several hours of fun but a few hours worth are missing; for some reason the Jurassic Park games for SEGA Master System/Game Gear and SEGA CD have been completely omitted rendering the set technically incomplete. There is also the little matter of the actors' faces being removed from the info cards in the first SNES game but that's more of a minor nitpick.
