In order for it to do that, it needs a machine that will produce the new machine to allow the factory to improve itself. Tesla, and especially other companies are years away from that still.

AGI isn't just about increasing benchmark scores, but building a system that can inference and learn simultaneously in real time, all the time whether it's producing output or not, a system that can see and listen it's environment and affect it when necessary. No matter how smart llms are going to get, I will never call them AGI as it doesn't fit my definition.
@1flash357118 күн бұрын
Well, that is because the setup doesn't allow it to learn after it gets cut off from it's training computer. It is also limited to having to be forced to have inputs by the humans. When the setup is where it can constantly learn from the internet, and or through vision, and when interacting with humans, allows it to learn, then I think your definition of it would change.
@IndigenousEarthling10118 күн бұрын
Another quiet explosion is happening in sensors. Sensor costs are rapidly decreaing while availability and variety are scaling up. AI has access to superhuman sensory capabilities to train itself on real world perceived data. Optimus Humanoid Robot is an excellent example of this, with a camera in the back of its head and camera wavelength detection capabilities likely beyond the human visible range (e.g., ultraviolet, infrared/radar, etc), as well as GPS, IMUs, high fidelity microphones, temperature sensors, and radio/cellular/Wi-Fi recievers and transmitters. As Optimus walks, talks and interacts with humans and the world around it, it will have superhuman senses and transmit the data it perceives to AI training clusters for fleet wide learning. It's kinda scary and would likely be stopped or taken over by the government under different techno-political conditions.

I too would hesitant quite a bit in calling this O3 software AGI. There are many aspects to "intelligence." This model is constrained, in the same sense that Tesla FSD is constrained. Optimus would not be so constrained, outside controlled environments like factories or in space. We may now have AI, but still need to start talking about ASI as artificial specific intelligences (like this one or like FSD), while on the road to AGI.

Imagine if both Grok from xAI and OpenAI reach AGI. Would it spark an AI 'war' where they compete for dominance, or could we see a symbiotic relationship where they collaborate for the greater good? On one hand, there's the risk of an AI arms race, with each trying to outdo the other, potentially leading to ethical or security conflicts. On the other, if they work together, we might see unprecedented advancements in safety, ethics, and technology, where their differing ideologies could complement each other. Or maybe it'll be a bit of both - coopetition where they collaborate on some fronts while competing on others. What do you all think the realistic outcome would be?

Well you don't really need to be an AI expert or a philosopher to judge intelligence. Just compare it to an average human. Can it do things a human can not? Sure that has been the case since the first computer since that is their entire purpose in the first place. Now they can do one more thing...so what? What can humans still do better? How about remembering things in detail over decades? Remember the appearance, voice and details of each person you've interacted with? Initiate and maintain a conversation? Self awareness? Social awareness? Knowing how to move and navigate areas you've never been to before and when it's too dangerous to do so? Manipulate any object? Sure some of these things can be simulated now, but they need to be fully integrated in one system to match a human. Humans are also vastly more efficient. If it takes gigawatts of energy to run an AI it's not going to be very useful for most applications. AGI is just becoming the latest marketing and clickbait term since AI has been overused so much.
