Cool video, I'll be sure to try the Strawberry filled donuts at Donut Man when I visit Los Angeles again. We also have a donut shop called Stan's Donuts in Santa Clara, California which opened in the 1950's, they have the best Bavarian Creme I have ever had with very reasonable prices, two donuts and you are full.

My best friend lived in Glendora in the 80’s, & every time I went to visit Donut Man was the first place she would take me for the strawberry donuts. Katie you were so graceful eating yours. I always ended up dropping most of my strawberries & had to end up using a fork. Thanks guys for sharing such a wonderful part of life.

If Huell were alive, he probably would have shown up at this grand opening!!! ....One place I have been hoping you would eventually visit -- and I was about to suggest it to Adam the Woo before he ended his food series -- is the *Original Farmers Market at 3rd & Fairfax.* It is part of L.A. history (well over 80 years old). The Original Farmers Market includes a lot of family-run businesses that have been there for many, many, many decades -- such as Kip's Toyland, Du-par's restaurant & pie shop, Magee's Kitchen (famous for the corned beef), Bob's Coffee & Doughnuts, Charlie's Coffee Shop (known for having a good hamburger), Littlejohn's English Toffee, Bennett's Ice Cream, Bryan's Pit Barbeque/Barbecue, Marconda's Meats, The Refresher (great root beer floats), and more! And then there is the produce, of course -- at both Farm Boy & Farm Fresh. There is usually an event every year called "Taste of Farmers Market" -- on the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday in July -- and you can sample foods from over 50 of the restaurants in the Market (both the small ones and the bigger ones) for about $40 or so. However, I think it's clear that this year they won't be able to have that event -- at least not in July. Maybe they will reschedule it for the fall, but they have not announced anything. And this is after over 2 months of either being closed completely or not being fully operational. So those small mom & pop places need support! I think that, because The Grove moved in right next door to it in 2002, a lot of people assume that the Original Farmers Market is just part of The Grove and therefore it's all one big, expensive shopping mall. Not that there's anything wrong with The Grove -- it's great, especially during the holidays, and it's a fantastic place to people-watch -- but it actually took customers away from The Original Farmers Market in the first several years it was open. Things have balanced out a little better now, to where people easily wander from Farmers Market right into The Grove, or back and forth between the two. However, there are newer and trendier businesses invading the Farmers Market at all times, pushing the little guys out.
