Many fans scoff now at Hamed, so one-sided and humbling was his points loss to the great Marco Antonio Barrera in Las Vegas in 2001. It ruined him as a fighter and performer but it doesn't erase what he got done before that night; namely, whipping good solid fighters such as Tom Johnson, Manuel Medina, Wayne McCullough, Kevin Kelley, Wilfredo Vazquez and Paul Ingle. And losing to Barrera, who surely will be viewed by history as one of the great featherweights, is no embarrassment. (HBO)

I absolutely dislike his boxing character. But I totally get what he says in this interview. I might be wrong. But I feel like he just chose to have a different character and personality for the sake of his boxing career. It's like he wants audience to hate him and watch him to lose, a career based on controversy. While he might have been a lot more humble outside the ring. Again I might be wrong. But in this interview he spoke with a lot of sense.

@rainxxxx Fraud? of his 36 win 10 of those came against world champions. Going into the Barrera fight he was universally looked upon as the guy to beat at 126 lbs. As for his showmanship, that was a stroke of genius. If you brought a ticket to a Hamed fight It didn't matter whether you loved it or hated it, as long as you paid for it. I trained with Naseem, and sparred hundreds of hours with him in Sheffield, I didn't ever have a problem hitting him, he was always a loud mouthed obnoxious arrogant individual, I always knew that if he ever faced a skilled person with focus and tenacity he would be finished, The story at the time was that Bob Arum of HBO American boxing promoter who Naseem was contracted to told Naseem that if he didn't fight a credible world contender he was going to cancel Naseems contract. Marco Antonio Berrera went further and cancelled Naseems career 👍🙏

@rainxxxx No other featherweight in boxing history has made as much money as Hamed. The dude had no need to continue fighting. On numbers alone, he will be going into the Hall of Fame. Sadly, Barrera continues to trudge along in the ring. In a sport as unforgiving as boxing, it would make alot more sense in following the "apple crumb's" example. He got out at the right time and can live off of compounding interest. BTW: Is Barrera still president of Golden Boy Mexico?

This interviewer obviously came with an agenda. He was 28-0 British champ here but rather than being proud of a fellow Brits success & asking about his accomplishments he is baiting him to say how many cars he has, say he is better than M.Ali, telling him people he know hate him & want him to lose. No shit. Lots of covert racists couldnt stand a brown Muslim being confident and successful. Had that been someone who looked like Gary Linekar those same folks would have loved him. He got waaaaaay too much hate.
