Made the fritters. They were so nice I ate them all! Added a teaspoon of baking powder and they came out lighter. Also added nutmeg and mixed spice. Thanks for the recipe.

About 6-7 years ago I stumbled on this video as I was now on my own for school in Jamaica and had to learn to do everything myself. To this day I still come back to this video when I want a refresher. It's short and to the point to give you the results you're looking for.

I have watched 15 or so of these banana fritter tutorials and they are all so complicated compared to my familys. We just mash bananas and add about 2 tablespoon of flour and if they aren't really rip bananas then a tablespoon of sugar and fry them in margarine. Always use margarine it makes it taste so much better with the salty taste of it. That's it. We don't add any of the other things.

I think that’s kind of how my grandmother used to do them, too, except right when they were done & still hot, she sprinkled some sugar on top which would get crunchy - yum ! We loved these so much - I never got an exact recipe from her, but I know she did not use any sugar in the batter

When bananas look like these, we cut each into 3 pieces but in lag ziplock bag freeze for my vanilla protein shake. Just put in bowl run warm water over it. After 2 mins squeeze skin right off. Throw banana chunk in blender yummy. Add a teaspoon of sugar for a sweeter shake. I also add frozen blueberries & spinach 😋

For the person who said that it is a Jamaican recipe. Banana fritters are not only Jamaican. All of the Caribbean and most of the Latin American countries and some parts of America especially the south make banana fritters and banana bread and, of course, the Caribbean diaspora.
