In the new BF Configurator there is a Bind button in the receiver tab. Easiest method to use

That sounds way more useful than cli, but less useful than the passphrase. Hopefully the little text-to-hash tool will make it in the configurator in the future as well

I reviewed the Namimno ELRS module which is a JR sized module here kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZmTdGOhg8tlpNk and then some flights on that later on the Aquilla quad. I think BetaFPV are brining JR based module out but I don't think it's out yet

This is old now, but a bit of information that might be useful to some users. The 5A board (cross shaped one) that you have there looks like the V1 version, as it has the tower ELRS antenna, the V2 boards have a wire antenna, and - very usefully - on those the ELRS is UART not SPI connected. I bought a V2 just recently. Fine to start with, it broke in 2 weeks. Bought a replacement. That lasted under a week. At that point (last Sunday) I went back to BetaFPV. The first thing I must say is that BetaFPV ('Antony') are being very helpful and responsive. But: The fault is identical on both. The OSD disappeared - sometimes shows random characters, then the video itself becomes intermittent (grey screen). Then, on trying to connect to Betaflight Configurator, the PC does not recognise the USB device, and not surprisingly, Configurator won't connect. If you link out (loopback camera to Vtx) the OSD, and dont mind no PC connection, they still fly - though see ELRS bind point below. One board never connects now, the other is intermittent: by very slightly flexing that latter board it can be made to connect and disconnect - doesn't make OSD work, though. The other odd symptom on that same board is that the ELRS Rx goes regularly back into bind mode (it comes with no bind phrase set up). The way of getting these ELRS V2 Rx's into bind mode is usually to cycle the power three times in quick succession. Therefore, I suspect there is an intermittent or low voltage rail somewhere, but it's only a guess. These things are tiny, I haven't tried to fix it, not having a team of trained mice to hand. At the moment, BetaFPV say 'they are aware of the problem' and have offered to replace both - which is a good quick response, cannot fault them for that. But, the point that concerns me is that if this is a known issue on these V2 boards, and it is not addressed, what is to stop the same happening again on the next two? So I've gone back with some questions about this. That is where it is at the moment. I am awaiting a reply. Their technical support has been very good, bit worried about the products themselves, though.

Did you get the Type-C connector with the board or you got it separately from betafpv. It is not mentioned in the parts list of the 1s 12 amp ELRS V.2 flight controller.

Comes with the board. I just got through their prebuilt version of the 85x and that comes with one as well. I just don't think they specify it as an individual part.

So you used the bind phrase thingy and put that in the CLI? What version of ELRS are you running on your module and what version of Betaflight are you running - as the ELRS version is bound to the Betaflight release

@@CurryKitten I got it to bind now. BF and cli is latest release from beta fpv. But now I have no compass and the drone yaws on its own, if I try and correct it than it just takes off on it own across the room. Sometimes too the motors don't spin up correctly when armed also.

Xt30 is 10g more than a GNB27 and doesn't offer much of anything on 2s compared to the GNB27. Just an FYI (even though I'm sure your already aware)

Can ELRS be used with an older flight controller, like an F3? I’m a newer pilot and I’m trying to understand 🤔 Does the flight controller have to be running Betaflight 4.3 or higher?

The only reason I'm using a pre-release version of 4.3 here is because the SPI support for ELRS is only in 4.3 (which still hasn't been released yet) But for a regular ELRS receiver, it just uses CRSF as a protocol, which means you can run it on an F3 as well on Betaflight 3. There are a few things you'll miss that dropped in BF 4.2 like getting the LQ/RSSI/dBm RSSi as part of CRSF - but you can still get the RSSI and LQ (I think) from ch 15/16

You don't. The code for the SPI receivers is within Betaflight, so the way of upgrading the firmware will come with upgrading Betaflight. I think the actual 4.3 release will have ELRS v2 in it (instead of v1 on this pre release version)

ELRS SPI are dependant on the firmware in Betaflight, so whatever ELRS firmware is embedded in Betaflight will be in the RX.

@@CurryKitten understood. But BetaFPV created their own hex to make this AIO work with ELRS V1.x based on a Betaflight 4.3 nightly. They can create one to support the official release of ELRS V2.x in the meantime until Betaflight officially releases 4.3.x, I would think.? I just want to update this AIO to the latest ELRS V2.0 official release today, and I can't. Hopefully BetaFPV takes care of this soon to support their hardware.

@@CXBFPV On the betafpv site they have a doc explaining how to update ELRS to any version you want through betaflight passthrough. Unfortunately this doesn't work for me. I guess I'm missing a simple but important step, or got some setting wrong, but ELRS configurator can't connect to the ESP8266. Maybe you got more luck, and if so please share your experience.

BetaFPV just released a new betaflight hex file that makes this AIO compatible with ELRS V2.0.0 Gold official release. I have flashed it to my AIO and confirm that it works with mine. I have been trying to post the link of where it's at but KZbin keeps deleting my reply....?

Hey, new pilot here. I have a Beta65S Lite Micro Whoop Quadcopter but it is flashed with the wrong firmware. I read I need Betaflight MATEKF411RX 3.4.0 for F4 Brushless FC (SPI Frsky RX) but I only see new versions of this firmware. What should I do? I have a frsky taranis X9D -plus.

ELRS TX's are generally modules that fit, rather than a radio itself. That said I was flying with the simple/cheap BetaFPV LiteRadio 3 which does have ELRS built in.... but isn't out yet. Aside from that I use the Naimino module (review on my channel) which I've used with a bunch of other radios (anything with a regular JR style module bay)
