It just dawned on me why the greatest musicians also tend to be junkies. Jerry was one of the most prolific musicians in history. He was constantly playing to chase that high you get when you’re playing and you feel really alive and completely free in the moment. It’s a very special feeling. Even writing music when it feels like it flows out of you can create a high. Recording has that effect, when you listen back and nail the sound you had in your head or it comes out even better than imagined.
