Beth Breeze, Director of the Centre for Philanthropy, at the University of Kent, in the UK, discusses her latest book, "In Defense of Philanthropy" (Agenda Publishing, 2021). Running down "do-gooders" has become a popular pastime in recent years, she argues. Journalists and academics alike have lampooned and criticized philanthropists and big donors for their charitable activities, which are often characterized as a means of self-aggrandisement or tax evasion. She explains in this webinar that took place on Nov. 29, 2021, at an event hosted by Carleton University's Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership.
