I fear she's wrong about the Sussexes. To say that Meghan and Harry have a connection with young people is laughable. Meghan is 40, Harry 37 - they are not "young": most of the young people I know (age-range 19 to 30) either see the traditional monarchy as a good thing or pay it ho attention at all. Of those who have even heard of Harry and Meghan the attitude is pretty unforgiving: they see a rich middle-aged couple who have no need to work, who moan incessantly, who preach all the time, and who are completely out of touch with the reality of young Briton's lives - they see hypocrisy and are turned off by it. Conversely, they see the Cambridges as more relateable: people who are aware of their good fortune and acknowledge it and who genuinely try to give back to society. Anyone who thinks that Harry and Meghan are somehow the "answer" for the future of the monarchy needs to take a reality check.

That’s not true. Most Americans, those who are interested in the British Royal Family, are very aware that Royal life does not equate to celebrity life. This was made very evident in the Diana and Fergie years, both of whom “pulled back the vail of secrecy” and went public about the difficulties of acclimating to and living a Royal life and both of them left as a result. It’s also not true that “Meghan didn’t know what she was in for.” Of course Tina has to be deferential to Meghan Markle because she doesn’t want to get sued. Ms. Markle knew exactly what she was getting into. She schemed and connived her way to get there and then instigated the plan to leave. However, she underestimated her opponents, especially Prince William, who have thwarted her efforts to have her cake and eat it.

I agree that most Americans are aware that the Royal Family are not typical celebrities. Brits always underestimate Americans on various fronts, and I say that as an Anglo-American. To be fair, Markle may not have been completely aware of exactly how demanding it would be. But I do think she seems superficial and entitled. I would love to find out I’m wrong, and I hope Harry finds whatever he’s looking for, without blowing the whole thing up.

Tina Brown completely misses the sheer narcissism of Markle. I liked her book but it was rather superficial. very little I had not read before. she doesn't grasp the enormity of the dishonesty even in the Oprah interview and what that tells us about Markles character. She also does not recognise how Harry is ensnared by the narcissist and that this is not a happy marriage. its one of predator and victim.

Not true: Haza told in the Oprah interview they were asked not to be part of the RF as working members. She was asked to go on with her acting skills. I think Tina Brown wrote this book in favor of Meghan Markle. She worked for Tatler, and Tatler wrote nasty things about Kate.
