This is helpful. My son began his kindergarten year last fall as well. He’s in public school and we’ve stuck through it, but there are a lot of aspects that I don’t enjoy, which you mentioned. Mostly for us, it’s the rigid schedule. His school day’s are so inflexible and that aspect really exhausts me. I hate having to wake him up so early every day and put him to bed so early just so he gets enough sleep for school. It’s hard for me, as a parent, because my day is structured around his school schedule. Even if I’m not working, I’m up at the crack of dawn helping him get ready and taking him to school. I’m considering homeschool for next year, when he’s in 1st grade, but a lot of it depends on my job and what that looks like. I do think, after a certain age, kids should be able to choose if they want public or homeschool. I don’t think they should be forced. For some, public school is great. For others, homeschool works best for their lifestyle. I think when kids are older, like pre-teen/teen, public school may be more enjoyable for them.

That's interesting. I found more curriculum for kindergarten than other grades. I guess depends what style people look for or specifics. I think homeschooling os great to take a more individualised education, in a loving environment, to learn through play like children naturally do and to know what they are being taught 🥰👏

I agree about the time issue. But for me personally I am a single mom so when my 4 year old goes to school even for just a few hours is amazing. Shes in preK and startd Kindergarten in the Fall. I wouldn't mind doing home school but working from home and doing home school isnt in.the cards for me.

It's not for everyone. If you do decide to, know you won't be alone. Lots of single parents choose to home educate. It doesn't have to look like school, with the same hours. It can be flexible. But if school is right for you, do what keeps things happy for your family.

Did you have to explain at school why you want to take your child out of this public school? What you told them at school because i think they maybe was shocked that you dont want your child to continue their education in that school?
