I'm a Veteran and work at a V.A. Medical Center in N.Y. We have four CLC's (Community Living Centers/Nursing Homes) and over the years, I have developed a solid bond with our residents. As most Vets do, I spent my time telling exchanging war stories as we only understand. My V.A. does NOTHING like this! When resident passes away in one of the CLC's, they just call the V.A. ambulance, drape a flag over the passed Vet and take him away. No announcements. No one knows. I would come back from my days off and even my co-workers didn't know of a residents passing. So sad!

Who was the jackass standing there with his hands in his pockets? To the rest of you, thank you for honoring the fallen. Lest we forget, lest we forget.

Those are not pockets sir, Us Army guys refer to those as Air force gloves ;-).....Some times these guys, also caring, just feel awkward and have trouble finding a place to put their hands, They mean no disrespect..... Ken, US Army Vietnam vet, Thanks for caring. As a police officer, I went to a call where a retired soldier friend of mine was killed when a car he was working on, fell on him. My fellow officer a very new officer was frozen in shock seeing this, and had his hands in his pockets. The supervisor yelled at him to get his hands out of his pockets. The poor guy apologized profusely and said he was sorry, and it would never happen again.

This is something that should've been done a long time ago. It's good to see that in at least one hospital is showing the honors that veterans deserve when they go on to serve in the Lord's service. Rest in peace and may you have fair winds and following seas.

Another member from the Greatest Generation gone - Well done, soldier. Who now among the younger generation will answer the call of our nation when they are needed ? Patriotism is not part of the millenniums and college students. I am very concerned about the lack of commitment currently in society - maybe they think those boys running around in their pajamas will somehow protect them when the emergency arises ? ? ? Smh . . .
