So while I believe this is mostly about prim, I can’t help but imagine Katniss feeling this way about everyone that died in the trilogy as a whole. One of my favorite things about the series is how she became attached to everyone and how broken she got throughout when everyone started to die. She’s singing to rue, finnick, prim, everyone that sacrificed their lives for her and the cause they were fighting for.

I remember throwing Mockingjay against the wall of my bedroom when I read what happened there at the end... but in the end, it's also what makes this book so bloody brilliant. Suzanne Collins broke one of the pillar laws of plot writing. 'That what caused the story to start, the initial overstepping of the border, should not become redundant, for then the whole story itself becomes pointless'. The border that was overstepped was Katniss volunteering for Prim, for she wanted Prim to live. In the end, the whole world of Panem went down in flames, because one girl wanted her sister to live -- and then she dies anyway. Self fulfilling prophecy. That bomb would not have been placed there, had all the previous things around Katniss' way to becoming Mockingjay never happened. Collins broke that law in full awareness, to show: That's life. Life is brutal, life doesn't care for plot laws. Life can make all your efforts, all the sweat and the blood be in vain, for in the end that what you wanted to prevent can happen anyway and there's nothing you can do about it. The question this series as a whole asks is: no matter how right you feel in your rebellion, are you aware that rebellion means death and that you never can tell if what you create will be better than what was before? What price is too high to pay?

This reminds me of my best friend/boyfriend that hasn't spoken to me for almost a year. . . We were close, then started dating. Then he showed me this song. . . We both struggle from depression, and we both love the hunger games. One night he said he couldn't deal with it anymore, and told me and a few friends to listen to this song. We knew that he was about to commit suicide, but we stopped him. This song always reminds me of him now. After a while we broke up, around October/September 2017. We stopped taking. I lost my best friend, and the love of my life. But it hurts more because he still talks to our old friends. But he texts me asking why I ignore him?? I'm not trying to. . . It just hurts like hell knowing that he's moved on and I haven't. God I basically just spilled my life story.
