Fun fact is that when this is performed live, the audience already knows that they're singing part of the chorus... Tony will always do the "... open door!" and point to the crowd, and we all sing "Run away run away run away" :D

Tony and the entire Sonata Arctica band are better live. They feed off the crowd energy and provide a much more emotionally connected delivery. This can be heard live and seen even in the still photography I have shot as a freelance concert photographer

Pretty sure this was the original album recording from 1999. That's quarter of a century ago and Tony's been only getting better. And their new album releasing in just a few months will be back to their roots, meaning the sale style of music as this was. Stoked big time!

This has been one of my absolutely favorite songs for the past 23 years. First saw them when they toured in the Netherlands with Stratovarius in 2000. They were the opening act and I was truly blown away by them, I've been following them ever since. I saw them a few years later in Belgium and the mood in the room was just completely electric. When they played Full Moon we all just went mad, entirely enthralled by the music. I have never experienced anything like that since, absolutely fantastic. I'm very happy to see that you've come to revisit this ❤ and give it a bit of the love it still very much deserves.

I remember stumbling on this song yeeaaars ago. Growing up I was always the kid who wasn't that well rounded when it came to music or had anything to add in the music classes, didn't keep up with genres and such, never thought much of music as I thought nothing out there was my type of music. I enjoyed soundtracks in games or movies, but no band. Then when I must've been 18 this came up in my recommended on old youtube and my thought was "This... this is my genre", power metal, fantasy metal, melodic metal, opera metal like Nightwish. It opened a whole wide door. A bit of funny (and for me personally cringy) trivia was I was playing WoW at the time, new race was worgen that'd come out, werewolf people. I'd switched over to it and that's when I got recommended this and it stuck with me extra with how fitting it was for my character and just that mood I was in. Always loved werewolves as a kid so why both the game race and this song gripped me.

Since Christmas is closing in I'd like to suggest for you to check out a band/project called "Raskasta Joulua", directly translated to Heavy Christmas. 😁 Raskasta Joulua gathers a good amount of Finnish metal vocalists together (and some foreign quests too) to sing traditional christmas songs but with a heavy metal twist 😉 They've done few albums over the years and every christmas they go on tour all over Finland, I'm yet to see them live myself but I definitely will one day! You'll be seeing the names of Marco Hietala and Tony Kakko in there for example, along with many awesome finnish vocalists. Also Elize Ryd of Amaranthe has been a regular singer there too. In recent years even Tarja Turunen and Floor Jansen have made appearances on their live shows too.

This is how it began, new album just coming out ! Sonata Arctica was a big deal for me and my friends in the beginning. First four albums are special. Tony Kakko has very unique voice, there´s something in the color of his voice, that makes it stand out from the mass. Although, Georg Neuhauser from the band Serenity always reminds me of Kakko, which is a bit weird. Try Wolf & Raven someday, it is relentless !

I feel like Tony's vocals set Sonata Arctica apart from a lot of their power metal peers. Not that other singers in this genre are lacking anything, but Tony can do so much more with his voice than just metal... it's kind of like Freddie Mercury or something, he can really stretch out and do some very operatic (but not like... "faux" operatic, more genuine) storytelling and character portrayals. Later in their career, the band would get away a bit from their early power metal style and embrace a more progressive metal/hard rock kind of style and Tony's voice is really perfect for that. I feel like he'd be a perfect villain character on an Ayreon record or something. Arjen Lucassen needs to call him up. (I don't remember if you've ever reacted to any Ayreon, but if you haven't... get on it!)

This is from their debut album (Ecliptica). His vocals changed noticeably on later albums - I heard it explained as 'Tony realised laying down a perfect track in the studio was very different to singing multiple songs in a row live during a show'. So he started writing parts that were more manageable in a live setting. Still a great vocalist, but Ecliptica is a little bit of an outlier in their catalogue, vocally
I love your reaction video. You seem so sweet! Tony Kakko is a great singer! Sonata Arctica and a second band is my favorit bands. I wish you would do a reaction video for the other favorit band I have wich is Citizen Soldier. A band who sings about very importent things.
