Don't worry, I won't say anything about the pronunciation of the band name. As a German, I probably mispronounce it 80% of the time, too. 🤭 I can only agree with you that they sound like that they are playing in this constellation for damn many years. That they only got together 4 years ago is sometimes hard for me to believe. But I have witnessed it myself from almost the beginning, and just what they have released in the last 2 of them, in my opinion, can not only be attributed to talent, but has a lot to do with their chemistry with each other. The problem with “read what you see,” is the Great Vowel Shift, in which the British corrupted the pronunciation of the Roman alphabet. When you see a Japanese word word written with Roman characters (Romaji), pronouncing be vowels as you would in Spanish or Italian gets you very close. NEMOPHILA is not a Japanese word, but they pronounce it ネモフイラ, which sounds something like “neh-mo-fee-la”. (Like the E in Ned, and the I in Pizza). And MAYU is “ma-yu” (A as in Mama.) OIRAN as in Oil, or “Oi, oi, oi!”

Call ‘em why you like, just keep buying their music. 😜 I wasn’t overly impressed with their second album, it’s a bit bland in places, musically, but if you listen with top quality headphones the instrumentation, and Mayu’s voice, make up for it somewhat. It does have a few brilliant songs but mostly it’s a tribute to how good Mayu has become. Saw them live in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago at the time this song was released, now that’s a whole different ball game - all of their songs hit home live with no misses. This song? It’s a mature Nemophila sound but it lacks some of the rawness I love about them live and when they were first playing together. It’s growing on me but not as fast as Adabana did. Go and check out a brand new J-Metal band, Hades, and their track Bring It On. 😊 They could well be the next / another big thing!

The Japanese pronunciation is not important (they don't have the English "i" sound in the language). It's an English word for a blue flower.
