When you get to the Blond Ambition Tour, after all this journey, you’ll see how high she rose in such a short time in her career. She ended the 1980s already being the most successful artist of all time (in terms of her recording sales). Madonna is, without a doubt, the greatest performer in the history of music.

Fun fact: At the beginning of the concert she was referring to her actual grandma, the man who takes Madonna off the stage is her real father and the setlist also included “Angel”, “Borderline” and “Burning Up” but they never made the final cut of the film. Also, I suggest hearing/watching the following songs “Who’s That Girl”, “Causing a Commotion” and “The Look of Love” since they’re part of her next tour! Some facts from that time, until the end of the 80s, many artists didn't like touring, because the profit was very low and tiring, but they did it because they were contractually obliged to promote their albums. Madonna changed that, she always loved the stage, because there, she could express her opinions directly to those who listened to her songs and exemplify through images and concepts the various meanings. Virgin Tour was her first tour, the second tour “Who's that girl” in 1987, was her first world tour and is practically an extension of the Virgin Tour, but with an even sharper band and backing vocals. She also suffered pressure and censorship here, because she innovated by already starting to address social causes in her 3rd album “True Blue” and her music videos. Don't forget that at that time, in addition to the cheap tickets for shows, the logistics of transportation were difficult. Madonna changes the tone of her songs on tour, because after recording the album, she has to promote it and gets tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. So, by reworking the sound of the song, she keeps herself fresh to face a tour, and, as I said, she brings another point of view to that idea. Everything changes on the 3rd “Blond Ambition” tour, where Madonna really delivers a concept for the show. Ticket prices increase, causing controversy in the music world, but soon, several artists began to copy her marketing tactics that remain to this day, with music videos with meanings and tours with concepts. Madonna has always dictated fashion for many years. Her music videos and tour visuals were created together with stylists, so everything ends up being adapted to the street. Even in 2005, when Madonna brought the retro 70s theme back with the release of the album “Confessions on the Dancefloor”. A lot of purple was on the streets, as well as shoe models and clothing cuts, and the retro theme of several items has remained to this day. Justify My Love, a song you haven't heard yet, was banned from many radio stations and the video was only broadcast after midnight on MTV. Madonna released the video clip on VHS, sold millions and still managed to get the song to number 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1990. With that, it became very clear to her that she could reach people in many ways, without being held hostage by radio and television approval. Erótica 1992 was living proof of that, she already knew that censorship would come, she released her own media, a book and went on tour showing that the album is not basically about sex.

Trust me, being along for the ride was incredible and reaction videos like this are amazing because they take me right back to how I reacted. @ In my opinion I still think she’s on top, she truly is the last mega star in the world right now. Like just take this decade for instance. Frozen went viral on tiktok, she released a remix of it with sickkick that is one of her most streamed songs as of now, back that up to the beat also went viral which is a demo from the rebel heart era and original version released during Madame X. Getting featured on The Weekends album and that song reached 1b streams some weeks ago. Celebration tour broke many records including being one of the fastest selling concerts in history, breaking the record for the biggest stand alone concert ever and Celebration tour is one of the highest grossing concerts last year. She’s a never ending artist, and a new album on the way. She’ll continue as long as she lives

to think that this was her first tour and she was already giving it her all, you will be surprised at the impressive level that she took each subsequent tour, the next tour is the Who's That Girl Tour Ciao Italy is the tour that promotes her next album True Blue and the soundtrack of her movie that is called the same as the Who's That Girl tour, you will be surprised by the energy, the soundtrack, the stage presence, the story, her performances, it is a wonderful tour, the story, her performances, it is a wonderful tour, the Madonna phenomenon was unprecedented, this tour was the second of her career and she already filled the iconic Wembley Stadium in less than 18 hours 144 thousand tickets, in France she gave a concert in front of more than 130 thousand people and to date it remains the largest concert in the history of that country and they have not broken that record, without a doubt you cannot miss it because after that tour comes the Blond Ambition Tour the tour that changed the way and the way of touring and that established the rules of how to put on a concert that was a before and after in the The history of the music industry is so important that tour is the basis that all the divas of today follow because it set the bar so high even for herself that the expectations she has of a concert are so high that she never and to this day never disappoints because she surpasses them, Madonna has already faced all kinds of stigmas and an industry dominated by men in which she was the only one who was at her level. This woman is more than an artist, she is an institution, one thing is clear, whether you like it or not but this woman was the one who changed and established the rules of the game that is why she is a reference and inspiration for the divas of today although many do not know it but this woman paved the way for all of them to walk ..... simply the queen of pop .... I hope you react to her next tour Who's That Girl Tour Ciao Italy

G'day it's Steven from down under again Welcome to "the club" Beth, you're now emotionally committed to the power and talent of Madonna, and your fantastic journey has only just begun, you'll soon see and feel Madonna's stardom more and more. Its such a great feeling to see younger generations embracing and loving Madonna's ability to entertain and bring this fractured world together in her own special way, this is pure joy and escapism. This concert is 100% live and very pure, perhaps your perceptiveness picked up on a video glitch or the backing singers vocals...🤷‍♂️ With every subsequent concert its clear that we have a mega star in the making, and that she truly loves her art, she evolves and grows becoming more beautiful and complex. Her concerts become more and more sophisticated and visual stunning too. ALL HAIL THE QUEEN OF POP!

80s Madonna is so fun and innocent in a good way. I know it was shocking to some back then but it just makes me smile. Great reaction, as always, Beth. Madonna is a powerhouse live, even in this early incarnation! Unbelievably, people said (and still say) that she can't sing. It would be amazing if the full show was finally released. This video footage was heavily edited - mainly as there was a restriction on the running time of music videos that were to be released on VHS in the mid-80s. It also meant that her record company could cut Madonna's more suggestive speeches and routines, to guarantee an 'E' (exemption) rating for the release. The full show had an extended intro before Dress You Up, a racey speech before Everybody, where Madonna introduced the audience to her "box", which she told them that they had to "turn on", as she grinded on a boom box (she later paid homage to on her Confessions Tour, with Hung Up). Angel (and the release of the 'dreams Come True' balloons) was performed after Everybody, Borderline came after Gambler, and the main part of the show (before LAV) ended with a performance of Burning Up which would have definitely altered the rating. It was a total sauce-fest!!!! The LAV production is great. It pays homage to MJ's Billy Jean and Billy Idol's White Wedding

Also she is known to change the arrangement of songs BIG TIME in her tours, a lot of them BRILLIANT. Oh and the Gambler performance, awesome. And also as a former musical theatre performer, its damn hard what she does on every tour, the constant singing and dance together is hard when you have a few songs in a show, but her future tours are all 2 plus hours and might as well be theatre as they are huge. And artists didnt start to use sweetener on their vocals until the 90s, so every word is live.

Madonna is always best experienced live on stage. This show made me the fan I am today. I never can get enough of this tour, even after seeing it a trillion times since the '80s. Keep in mind, this is a video edit. While she sings live, some vocals or images may have been mixed from other shows, she's known for doing that to get the best out of it. Unfortunately, a few songs from the setlist have ended up on the cutting room floor. The quick changes appear very fast, but in reality, there was some instrumental time in between the songs. Watching you react to this is a joy! Thanks!

This was a tv special that was then sold in home video format, so they had to fit the whole thing into 1 hour. They cut three songs (Angel, Borderline and Burning Up) as well as the intros to some songs when she was changing garments. Although there is no official recordings of these we were able to watch those in a bootleg video from the Dallas concert

So Happy to have you experience your first Madonna tour Beth! Welcome to the greatest live artist. It only gets better and better. I love this tour and time so much. Dress You Up, Gambler, Crazy For You, and my all time favorite M song, Into the Groove are highlights. I wish the official release had Burning Up, Borderline, and one of my other all time faves, Angel included as she did perform them on the tour. I loved seeing your joy and enthusiasm. I was 12 when this tour happened, and didn't get to see it in person sadly. One of only 3 tours from her I didn't get to see in person. Wait til you get to Blond Ambition, Girlie Show, and the Confession Tours. They are all amazing...... Waiting anxiously for reactions to all her tours one day! Keep the Madonna journey going girl! Much love to you......

I experienced 80’s Madonna after-the-fact in the 90’s when I became old enough to start to develop my personal taste for music. 90’s Madonna was the most influential and impactful to me. I’ve been an obsessed stan since I was 8 years old. Her discography is literally the soundtrack of my entire life. Growing up a closeted gay boy in a fundamentalist christian household in Appalachia, Madonna was something indescribably special to me. When I could literally talk to no one else on earth about how I felt or who I really was inside, her music was an escape for me. At times it felt like it was all I had, so my connection to it is stronger than I could even describe.

One information: Michael Jackson and Madonna never "dated" lol, they went out on like 2 dates in the early 90s and that was it. There was speculation that they were working for his song In The Closet but apparently she was doing waayy too much and even wanted Michael to cut his iconic long hair so ultimately Michael dropped any kind of collaboration right there 😂 In fact, according to private tapes recorded by Rabbi Shmuley in the early 2000s which I don't think were ever even supposed to get out but he waited for Michael to die to release them and even a whole book of transcripts based on them to profit from it, but anyway, Michael said she was "just not a nice person" and was rude and even yelled at kids to leave them alone who came to get their autograph, that was a big NO for Michael 😂😂😂 so no, nothing happened between them,he also said Madonna wanted him to go to a strip club with her and Michael was like NOPE 😂 he realized they had nothing in common like you really think Michael would go to these kind of places 😂😂 he saw all of that when he was a kid, he said no and apparently she started saying stuff about him in the press and he said she was a "nasty witch" 😂😂 but he does say that she may have changed from the last time they saw each other after becoming a mother. And no, Michael did not talk about any "kiss" or "wine" or nothing at his home and I find that to be highly unlikely given what he said himself about his experience with her on these 2 dates lol you don't kiss someone who you are not campatible with, and barely know, and especially after studying a lot about Michael and his personality, that story sounds very questionable to me.

Madonna's relationship with her father is a big part of her background story and art. Her father was not approving of her decision to drop out of college and move to New York to be a dancer. He was a very strict man, dealing with the loss of his wife to cancer and raising 8 kids. It took him a long time to understand what Madonna was doing with her life and career choices. This bit at the end was a sly, tongue-in-cheek joke. I'd like to think it made her relatable to her young fans in the audience whose own parents may not approve of them being there having "a good time."

People often ask why artists that performed in the 80s no longer do the same productions live, the truth is that it was extremely expensive to do these full blown electric and synth based concerts in that time, and it still is very hard to reproduce today. Madonna does still do certain things from then in her more recent concerts and over the years but it becomes more rare over time. Her confessions tour really is one of her more major production tours that are comparable to the full blown synth pop live productions and had some amazing live mixing and synth going on, perhaps the best of all of them in that aspect. I can't wait until you see that tour. Another amazing reaction video! :)

Gambler was our favorite and we would flash our basement lights off and on and dance like maniacs! 😂 One thing to consider, at this time most critics were calling Madonna a Flash in the pan. She and Cyndi Lauper released their Solo albums within months of each other, Madonna came first, so they were pitted against and compared to each other constantly. Cyndi was favored to be the one who would be more successful and have a longer career because she had the better voice. A lot of people though and still think that Madonna couldn’t sing very well.

[IN ADVANCE I WANT TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE NOVELETTE THAT I HAVE WRITTEN. CONSIDER THIS A WRITTEN REACTION TO YOUR VIDEO REACTION] Beth, I give you a lot of credit to be able to get past the noise that surrounds Madonna to truly see her. I can see it in your energy. YOU'VE BEEN BITTEN BY THE BUG! You mentioned this was Madonna's first tour. It was a national tour but she put a lot of effort into it and she's learning not that we at the time were expecting anything but we quickly learned to expect the unexpected from her. You can feel the energy that she brings onto the stage in this performance and every single show since then. The way she just commanded it and still does command the stage. Madonna truly enjoys performing live for us. Her light and stage presence is spellbinding! I know I don't know her personally and I probably will never get to meet her in person but I feel like I have always known her. I felt like that from the moment I heard her voice. I don't know why but I truly heard her and then truly saw Madonna on her first Album Cover photo. So much so that I saw her then as the artist she has become giving her speech when she accepted Billboard's Woman of the Year award in 2016 or 2017. I don't know how to explain it. I just trusted it. I just knew she would be around for a long long time. Madonna was a game changer. A raw talent and a true artist in the making. When I heard her making that speech I said her speech verbatim in unison with her for the first time I watched it. Come on! I've never really done that before and I'm good at reading people if I'm really interested. I'm pretty sure I mentioned these two quick facts. The moment she said she walked out on that very stage for the first time the amount of good energy that was being directed back to her almost knocked off her feet. Madonna discussed this in an interview with Jane Pauly, an NBC correspondent, JP asked Madonna, why did you think you couldn't do it or you couldn't somehow live up to it? In which Madonna replied no, it's not that I couldn't do it. I couldn't believe that I did all of this. This is bigger than anything I could have imagined or even dreamed. So much responsibility but I knew I could do it. The makeup person for this tour was one of her best friends from back in the day, Debi Mazar. They're still besties. If you don't know her by name she was in Goodfellows. She was the brunette that ran his opration and more recently and in your generation she was In Younger. She pkayed hio lesbian artist, Liza's bff. She's also in the True Blue and Music videos. Black hair with striking blue eyes. Debi in an interview sitting on a stoop in New York probably in Brooklyn said that when she was working as an elevator attendant in Danceteria she met a lot of people who would eventually become famous. One person in particular came into her elevator. Her name was Madonna. She was alive and raw and fun and she was trying to get DJ Mark Kamins to play her tapes. Madonna engaged her in conversation and they clicked. Debi would park her elevator when it was slow and the two of them would tear up the dance floor. Debi also said in that interview Madonna has this incredible amount of energy which I've heard you say the same thing in your reactions a few times. That Madonna also was the only one that was sober. She didn't do dr--s (coke cola) or drink any alcohol. Madonna would then arrive back to her place shower and change and go to dance class, audition or a modeling job. Madonna is very smart and disciplined all along keeping her eye on the prize. She didn't allow herself to get distracted. I believe I was 14 years old when she did this tour maybe 15. It was the summer and my mother left me her credit card so I can buy tickets to go see her. The entire tour every show sold out in 38 minutes. I couldn't even get through. All the lines were busy so I'd either get the busy signal or I got a recorded operator advising me that all circuits are busy to please try your call again later. This was before the internet so the only other way you could buy tickets is if you went to where they sold the tickets literally. In regards to "Get into Groove." You need to watch Desperately Seeking Susan. Madonna stole the movie and the entire summer bc the anthem for that summer was "Get Into Groove". The Humping yes it is! Especially with latin boys. Hence, the boys who are on her stage. Notice the outfits. She's getting money the crosses are incorporated into her custom made crop tops. See how in your face she is and completely f$$$$ng owning her sexuality. Men in general with their misogyny couldn't handle it. After this tour, I think I'd mentioned it to you before she no longer owed Sire Records a penny. Do you see her smiling the pure joy she gets performing live even after 40 plus years you'll still see her smiling with a smile that seems to radiates from her soul. Crazy for you I cried too. Don't worry I was there with you. I was feeling Madonna and you. Oh boy, I'm empathic today. Madonna can't sing, right? That's what they say. Yeah she's pretty and sexy but she can't really sing and she's not that talented. She sounds like Minnie Mouse on helium and a one hit wonder. Do you know we both got something to drink at the same time. 😂. The guys in over and over are wearing black denim acid wash on top of the vests. Playing guitar just like the queen find your inner Madonna, Beth! She used to wear old tights dancing tights in her hair. I think in the movie Desperately Seeking Susan someone asks her are you wearing tight in your hair when she goes to the club to meet the husband of her admirer. Are you ready for the Michael Jackson Billie Jean mashup with Like a Virgin? I don't think anyone had ever done a mash up before that performance. She's also the first person that took a selfie in the opening scene in Desperately Seeking Susan but with a Polaroid camera! Michael Jackson and Madonna just hung out for a little while they were curious about one another. It wasn't really a relationship but if you want to know a fun fact about that let me know and I'll tell you. It involves kissing, white wine and who made the white first move. Madonna with Material Girl was also trying to straighten out what people missed about the video because she was being ironic and she's not a material girl. Watch the ending of the song which you did. That truly is her Dad. She's playing up the daddy's girl. He was very strict with her when she was growing up. When you hang out with Madonna it's an all-nighter. Obviously, I'm reacting to your reaction. You made me watch this performance like it was the very first time, oun intended. Thank you, Beth. I needed this uplifting today. This of course way before they started losing so many friends and loved ones to AIDS. Debi says she was going to hospices and saying goodbye to friends almost daily. At a certain point Madonna, Queen Latifah, Rosie Perez and I started doing AIDS dance-a-thons to raise money for those in need. From Madonna's first tour and every single one thereafter Madonna has one show in which she dedicates to Keith Herring, the artist, and more importantly a friend. One of many that died and donates all the proceeds from that show to AIDS research in his memory. You mentioned her jacket. Your market so when you get to her last album and you watch the video for Crave with Sway Lee, remember that jacket. I don't know if that was intentional but they're very similar jackets. Like a pair of book ends. Madonna curses at us. I want to see her confessions tour in Atlantic City in the summer. I'm not sure if you're aware of this but Madonna started with that tour specifically that tour with the air conditioner almost turned off. Before the show even started and I was sitting underneath an ac vent and I could hardly feel it. Mind you it was like 93° at night and the humidity was in the 90 percentile. Madonna unknown to me had never performed in Atlantic City specifically. 20 minutes into the performance she literally stopped the music. No one was dancing. I was so annoyed with her that night. I almost f----ing got up to leave and broke up with her. You got to love her she yelled at us for like 10 minutes that if we didn't get up and dance and start acting like we are enjoying the show she was going to stop and leave and that she may never come back to Atlantic City. Madonna literally sat on her stairs on stage and said "I'm up here working my ass off" as she simultaneously slapped it "get the f-- up!" I said out loud and I'm pretty sure she heard me but didn't acknowledge my statement but only for a split second her facial expression told me she did. I yelled "I'M NOT FROM ATLANTIC CITY! YOU WANT ENERGY THEN TURN UP THE F---ING AIR CONDITIONING!" She made us get up and started the music slowly while she lovingly continued berating us. I was so angry I was literally ready to walk out but I stayed and it was worth the sweat sweat. I'll tell you on another tour that I did walkout. That night and I did literally break up with her for a minute but I'll save that story for when you react to that tour. What's your background with music? You know concepts and are very good at recognizing details many others miss even me sometimes.

When it comes to her mouth moving, I don’t think she is lip syncing, she does do some of that in her career but not on this tour. I think it’s because in her early tours, and last few, she releases a concert from a certain “city,” but in editing she sometimes blends some footage and audio from other dates. For example, her Who’s That Girl Tour is from Italy, but it uses footage from two different back to back dates in Italy, with a few shots from Japan.

I was gonna comment on that, thank you. Her officially released concerts are usually a footage from different dates spliced up together. It's specially noticeable during her later tours.

Every note on her first two tours was 100% live. She stared lipping and only occasionally and usually for a reason during the Blond Ambition Tour, where she started doing more elaborate dance routines

@@EasyGreen. Close. This concert I believe they apparently went back and taped a run through without audience for close ups for the tour video. So you'll notice the close ups sometimes look different from the actual performance. Her make-up during Dress You Up/ Mouth during Over and Over. I assume so she wouldn't have cameras in front of her while she was actually performing live but the home video could have close ups.

Awesome reactionBeth! If I could take you back in time to see the show, you would be right next to me. And I had great seats for this one, I was front row. FYI: the colourful jacket she is wearing was a gift from her friend, Prince. You’ll notice two rhinestone crosses on her right lapel. Madonna, always interacts with her audience in one way or another. I still have my Madonna money I collected from Material Girl. 💵 Sometimes between songs, sometimes yelling at them for throwing shit on stage, sometimes I sing along. Can’t wait for you to meet her backup singers, Nikki and Donna. Can’t wait for you to get to future tours. Blond Ambition Girlie Show Confessions 🪩 Sticky n Sweet 🍭

The first couple of tours are great, but from the Blond Ambition Tour (1990) forward, the tours are next level amazing! Can’t wait until you get to the Blond Ambition Tour. It was ground breaking for the time and defined what the modern pop tour looks like. The chemistry between her and her dancers is *chef’s kiss* ❤

As someone who was around since the beginning, I think the Virgin tour shows how effortlessly cool Madonna was. The 1987 tour is bigger but to me there’s something a bit dorky about the choreography that seemed uncool even in 1987. I remember people in high school back then making fun of it. Her drastic weight loss also seemed to affect her vocals to the point that some of the official video vocals are corrected. The first line of open your heart in Ciao Italia was replaced due to the original sounding so flat. The who’s that girl tour is definitely an evolution and the band is incredible but I think for most fans AT THE TIME, it was not exactly what we were expecting. I appreciate it more in hindsight

I agree. I am a big Madonn fan but I don't like the Who's That Girl Tour very much. The choreographies are exaggerated and clumsy. Her vocals also aren't very good (and the dancing has something to do with that). Having said that, The Virgin Tour has better vocals, cool dance moves, and she's a lot prettier.

Into the Groove was a massive worldwide hit outside of USA. They missed a trick not releasing it in the US. Always one of her most popular live songs that she has performed in 7 of her world tours.

Even though it wasn’t a single here in USA and didn’t qualify for charts - it was still massive. It was on constant rotation on radio and MTV. I’m sure most Americans who do not follow charts, consider it one of her biggest hits. Weird situation.
